Fuel Economy of Yamaha 125Z (72 Km/L)
Asslam-u-Alaikum,
This is my first post at Pakwheels. I purchased Yamaha 125z at 08-08-2017 and calculating its fuel average from first day. I got 55 Km/L in break-in period. After that I experimented at different speeds. I usually refill after my weekly trip of almost 325 km. The minimum average I got was above 40 Km/L at speed of 100-110 Km/H for one trip in my total travelling of about 8200 km.Now I am sharing data of my 9 trips mostly at speed of 60 Km/H
Distance Liter Average
334 Km / 4.88 L = 68.44 Km/L
326 Km / 4.62 L = 70.56 Km/L
325 Km / 4.49 L = 72.38 Km/L
465 Km / 7.19 L = 64.67 Km/L
453 Km / 7.45 L = 60.80 Km/L
352 Km / 5.39 L = 65.31 Km/L
348 Km / 5.50 L = 63.27 Km/L
330 Km / 4.63 L = 71.27 Km/L
379 Km / 5.36 L = 70.71 Km/L
Whenever I got low average, either there was a second person with me or I drove at higher speed for some distance.
Distance covered after closing petrol valve
1.2 km at speed of 80 Km/h and got average of 54 km/L,
1.6 km at speed of 60 Km/h and got average of 72 km/L,
1.7 km at speed of 55 Km/h,
1.8 km at speed of 50 Km/h,
From above data, I calculated a formula for myself (not a standard formula, it may be wrong)
54 / 1.2 = 45
72 / 1.6 = 45
i.e Distance covered after closing petrol valve x 45 = Average per Liter
Note that I can get average of above 72 Km/L at speed of 50 Km/h
(but 50 Km/h is very low speed at long drive)
There is nothing special in my bike, I change Yamalube after 3000 Km.
I am getting 40 km/L and 72 km/L from same bike with same settings just different speed and driving style.
Some key points for this average are
1)- Speed of 60 Km/h
2)- Long drive
3)- Single person
4)- shifting to higher gear as soon as possible
5)- Idling at 1000-1100 RPM
