I have a 2015 model YBR 125 ESD (34k kilometers driven). I'm considering joining my friends on bike tour to Northern areas this summer. They have Suzuki GS150 which is a proven performer in those areas. Yamaha YBR 125, particularly YBR 125G, is also considered good for such purposes. But people who took original models of YBR launched in 2015-16 faced multiple issues of bike losing power at high altitudes and Yamaha improved its performance in this regard in later models.
Can I make certain modifications / alterations to my 2015 model to make it perform like later models in those high altitude areas? I don't have any issues with performance of the bike in city environment and don't care about top speed or acceleration numbers. All I want is a reliable bike that doesn't fail me in those environments.
Bike at present is in total stock form except rear tyre which has been changed to 100/90-18 Panther trekker. I'm considering changing front tyre with 3.00-18 Panther Trekker as well.
Would changing the jet (119) in carburetor and changing air filter to those of newer models improve things? Would I have to change Silencer as well? I already plan to get new clutch plates (it's working totally fine in city, but might become an issue on tour).
Kindly guide what modifications / alterations I should get done to my bike to improve its performance to make it suitable for high altitude areas. Right now I'm not concerned with storage boxes, lights, chargers or any other such additions. All I'm concerned about right now is high altitude performance. Once that is sorted out, I'll again ask all you friends for your guidance regarding those things as well
