Salam Guys!
Got my YBR G a couple of weeks back in grey colour from YAMAHA shop in Multan and I must say that this boy has got some good looks.
Previously owned a 2010 CG classic and drove it for about 6 years, I hated it from the first day due to no comfort. I usually travel a lot and I need some good comfort and a good previous experience of yamaha yb100 royale, I thought about giving this beauty a try. So here comes the review.
Looks:
As you all know, THIS is the best part about this bike. Althought the round headlight takes away some of the style, the overall is pretty attractive. The rims are good and the bike is pretty large although the driver seat is low compared to deluxe but passenger's is high, but comfy enough, giving it a sporty look (about which you should know, it's not). The rear Taillight is great at clear enough and the overall build of the bike is very good, although the air ducts are plastics.
Performance:
Now, I would like to say that everything about this bike's performance is positive and I am very impressed. The bike is soundless and even quieter than a CD 70. From the very first gear, the bike is very responsive and smooth, unlike CG. although the bike weighs about 120 kgs, it does'nt feel like that when you drive it. The bike feels very light and the road grip is very good, thanks to the panther trekker factory fitted tyres. The front break is very good and provides great breaking which of course is better than CG classic. Point to be noted, there is no vibration in the bike which had made me sick and angry at times on CG classic and 70s. I let down is the noise of exhaust as it is not as lively as CG's drum. But you should know that, all modern bikes in this category are soundless and CG is just too loud for a modern bike ( hence not sold anywhere else in the world).
Fuel Economy:
Many of might get different milage depending upon your driving style but I am a bit Harsh driver. But still I managed to calculate a staggering 47km/l average after first oil fill that include an 80 km drive and the rest is cross town riding. while CG classic gave only about 35 km/l at most.
Comfort:
This is the reason I bought this Bike. 5 minute on CG and my back and butt starts to hurt a lot. But this thing is magical in term of comfort. I never knew that something could be this comfy. The rear suspension is adjustable and it was pretty good in stock settings and is even better now after adjusting it in comfort. Also the Headlights are a big plus, having a 35w halogen, which is pretty bright and clear ahead. No honda can beat it here (except CBR of course, that costs 6 lakhs plus).
Cons:
Only two things are missing from this bike and that are engine kill switch and dipper switch which is a let down. Also, spares are very expensive and availability is a not so good in many areas. Resale value is as expected not good, which is a stupid concept according to me.
Final words:
This is truly a great addition to pakistan market that was being looted by Honda offering decade old tech. If you have about 1.25 lakhs than go for it instead of deluxe if you want to keep it for a long time. For those who will own it for resale, they will be disappointed. But this bike still is great enough for me and I am very satisfied.
