Dear Members,
I have a yaris 1.3 cvt. It has clocked a little over 50k kms. Few days ago, the airbag light came on the speedometer and since than it stays on with a few instances where it goes.away before reappearing. I took it to a mechanic who attached a scanner with the car and said I have reset it but after a short drive it came back again. Than he said, there's an issue with its clock spring and it will need replacement. I checked with the dealership and they quoted the part to cost 100k upwards.
My question is how can a clock spring go bad on its own? What i remember is i got the car cleaned by getting the engine bay washed and thorugh inside cleaning with a blower. Can it be that the connections under the seat got loose or dirt in them? Can someone guide to a good car electrician in or around johar town who can exactly diagnose the problem?
The car got hit a year ago, it was a hit and run case while my car was parked outside my house. It was a face to face hit. But since than until now after the repair work, there wasnt any such issue till recently. Only the bumpers and reinforcemnt bar were damaged which i got replaced, but no airbag damage or anything like that.
