YBR - LED/HID replacement

Guys, need some quick response please.

Stock light of Yamaha is great in City riding but not on highways. Mainly because of its color - it's yellow. For me, it's not that bright when I'm cruising on 110 to 120.

I've tried various LEDs, it's very bright but it covers half the distance of halogen bulb. Note that, I'm talking on highway riding, not City so light cover distance is super important.

So I'm hoping to install 55w halogen bulb. Thoughts on that?

And I happen to be in Lahore on this weekend (today and tomorrow) so any idea where I can buy such bulbs for Yamaha (HS1 type 55w). I'm asking as I really don't know any place in Lahore.

Plus, I have been suggested to install some external LED lights in addition on stock halogen bulb. Not sure if it's a good idea because light color will mismatch (plus, not a fan on hanging lights on bike). If I'm going to do that, I may need to install higher amp battery of same size.

Can you suggest a place in Lahore where I can buy such items. Or please suggest a bike electrician who understand Yamaha bikes and can offer his help on this matter.

HS1 bulbs are pretty similar to H4 bulbs used in car's.

You can find a 55/60 watt H4 bulb from some car decoration or spare parts shop. But you will need extra relays to power that bulb because stock wiring is made to bear the load of 35/35 watt bulb.

Go for the LED Tube in YBR. It has good results as I am using it from last 1.75 Yrs in my YBR G 125.
It was RTD brand LED Model M:02 E (specifically model if you couldn't find it) with 35W power with brightness of 3500LM.
It has good throw.
This is my bike's throw on high beam asa it has dual function like low beam and high beam

Get an H4 LED bulb . Should be good because market is flooded with cheap LEDs.
There's a page on Facebook with the name of BI LED , they probably deal in LED bulbs as I got bulbs for my car from them.

I haven't tried RTD M02 but have tried RTD M6 which has 6 LEDs, 40W I guess.

Very bright light but throw was an issue. Let me tell you an experiment, get any Yamaha on the same location as your bike with stock headlight in high beam and black gate across the street will be more visible- only because it's halogen bulb in reflectors housing. But overall light seems dim.

When you'll ride on open roads, like on GT today, you'll see.

May be I'm expecting results like my Corolla lights and not getting it.

But I'm off the view to try M02 headlight for sure, it seems pretty good to me.

I visited McLeod last night. Found a few a few LEDs in 35w but I'm more into 55w with H4 type as that can address the distance issue.

But then I came across another thread about Yamaha 125 with custom lights with get placement best headlight.

A friend had these, they were worst then Halogens

WOW, the first LED that I bought for GS150 was pretty bad too. Had similar experience with almost all of them which aren't original I've tried for my Yamaha.

That is why, I was basically looking for better halogen bulbs with white light like orasm night breaker etc. But couldn't find original yet.

So the hunt continues.

Better Halogens such as night breakers or Extreme visions are a waste of money as well . They don't bring any difference in your bulbs performance, been there done that mate. For an upgrade, you need OEM level product like Philips, Osram, Photum etc

Well, that's your personal opinion, I am in the favor of better vision in front of bike rather than a long throw. before this i has being using HID (55W if i remember correctly) in my CD 70 model 2010 back in 2011. Till the last day, it consumed 2 HID and 1 LED. But in my case i had better results from HID but these repair and maintainance is hell of a job in case of motor cycles.

Mera Matlab ye tha k extra paisay night breakers ya extreme vision par lagana fazool hai... Better ye hai k direct OEM manufactures ki LED bulb liya Jaye....Mai LED likhna bhool Gaya beech Mai ...

Thanks for the reply. I was traveling so couldn't respond earlier.
On Monday evening, I was in the Pindi sadar market trying to get night-breaker was able to read your post in time so I didn't buy one.

Thanks for sharing your experience as it really helpful.

Let's hope that I can find a good OEM LED bulb or I'm thinking to go and add two separate lights parallel to headlight like the one I shared in a external link as a alternate option.

I absolutely agree with you. In city riding, that makes perfect sense. As for me, I've tilted the angle of headlight to a bit lower, on the road, and the stock headlights works great and when I go high-beam, there is plenty of light on the road thus great visibility so in city riding, that's just awesome.

The concern, I've is with the highway riding and I'm planning to cover about 3500 km visiting northern areas on bike as it sounds a great adventure. With that in mind, I'm preparing for every possibility.

You can have one LED Tube in Main Beam and two external support. I think they will be enough
