I recently purchased a hybrid car in japan and I’m importing it here in Pakistan for my personal use. The year of manufacture of the car is 2018 December but it is a 2019 model. Upon enquiry of custom duties I came to know that the customs in Pakistan only considers the year of manufacture as the actual model year of the cars. Now I’m confused as to what amount the custom calculation will turn out to be; my clearance agent says that even though he puts in the model as a 2019 the inspector from customs will write it down as 2018 and the car will also be registered as a 2018 model year.
Has anyone else experienced the same? Some guidance and information on the matter is much appreciated.
