if this new yellow cab scheme goes is a waste of money. this money should be used to build schools and hospitals, well actually the current ones dont even have the budget to keep running properly.improve education sector...healthcare.
the last yellow cab scheme was a complete disaster and really hurt the economy with millions of dollars lost in default payments.
if this one goes through the only people who are going to get the cars are pml (n) party workers and or their relatives and friends..

Good to see some common sense here, most of members are way too short sighted to figure out the obvious problems. These ppl are happy with sesti roti, yellow cab, karz utaro mulk sanwaro and benazeer income support program... and they think it is going to make us a developed country one day.

+1.. People used to tell others they are DC when they would return from abroad. Laters it was revealed to be DISH CLEANER lolzz

If you actually know anything about education (which i doubt you do) you would see the endless possibilities to make a living but if you are happy being a cabbie or dish cleaner or toilet cleaner, please make sure you do not send your kids to school and let them follow your dream path, buy them a yellow cab.

Waste of money, we don't need anymore cabs. They are inefficient and unaffordable for common man.

They should invest this budget in health care and schools. Budget for health care has been decreased from 6 to 3%. We don't need cabs we need a circular railway system in all major cities. sighhh

I am not sure how the implementation would be done, but generally these schemes generate good economic activity. Nawaz and Co. are businessmen and know how to generate money, so at least relatively better from Zardari and Co.

how you think itll be good for the economy?
what will 1000 or 2000 or5000 cabs do? cab drivers will not be paying taxes either... so how is it going to generate revenue for the government?
how is the cost of buying these cars going to be recovered by the government if the cab drivers are not going to be paying taxes..
if there is going to be a subsidy given to buy these cabs are there any other alternate schemes that might be more beneficial for revenue generation then the yellow cab?
do we really need more cabs? or are there more cheaper means of transport (bus,van) service that can and should be improved.how many buses and vans have you seen that should never be allowed to run on the roads? that are just scrap metal? and dangerous for poor people to be commuting in?

or is this just a case of the sharifs trying to prove themselves right at any given cost?

its not a case or zardari vs the sharifs,who better whose worse. rather whats is best for normal pakistani's,most of them dont even have enough food to eat 3 meals a day.i highly doubt their priority is the pleasure of driving in a new yellow cab.

investment in education and health care is what is needed subsidies for small and medium businesses.and not only in the cities for rural areas which are mostly left out because they donot have a voice.

money and power should not be an excuse to forget oneself or reality.

remember this scheme is for BA cleared only so. most of people who had gone through BA are doing MBA so as compared to the people who needs this scheme for having a living are below BA only 2% or less will take benefit for surviving, this scheme seems to me some thing for nawazna.....

i do not have any political sympathy for any of these.

But if u r not biased u hav to admit its a good Scheme (assuming fairness of the process) . Want our young generation needs more than anything is Job, u give a fundamentalist some money and you will see how this will start to change his views.

If ppl (30,000) ppl can get a livelihood from scheme it means 30,000 Families can be supported. For those who thinks ppl cant drive a cab In Pakistan, plz call a Metro or Radio cab and ask the driver how much he makes a month.

And in the last Driving a cab is a respectable and honest way of earning. There is nothing to be ashamed about.

Ppl is pakistan needs to appreciate Good things if one happens once in a while.

Very well said. Most of Pakistanis in Europe and USA are either running taxis or serving in restaurant.

Where is it going to lead you? what about education, industrialization research and development? how many developed countries do that? Did japan progress because everyone started to drive a cab there? seems like this nation gets what it deserves..

Brother your concern is valid. But give the dire state of our beloved country; education, industrialization and R&D is a far cry now. Big concern is employment.

I also second concerns of other posters.... who will afford yellow cab when more and more people are opting for ChingChee... they cant even afford rickshaws and vans. At least here in Lahore I dont think yellow cab scheme is a viable option.
