Your decision has worked out for you, but for none of the reasons you have mentioned so it must be your lucky day.
I myself am on the same boat, with my second Cultus. I decided in 2013 to not give the Wagon R a chance only because the car looks ugly and I ended up where you are and bought a new 2013 Cultus in exchange for an old 2007 cultus. However just a few tips to you:
Looks:
The looks of the Cultus are comparable at best with models from that "era". Since the Cultus shape has been removed from literally every part of the world except Pakistan, you can only compare it with cars as old as 2001 at best. Thus, competing against the likes of a Honda Civic 2001, you and I would both agree this car is miles behind. The fact is, you have just bought an even more dumbed down version of the international model which had decent looks. Yours is a 4 door (the Suzuki Swift as it was called was actually made for the teenager first car ricer segment). It doesn't have alloy rims. It doesn't have adjustable side mirrors. It has a cheap paint finish. It has horrible back lights now, the only thing PakSuzuki was allowed to make on their own.
All in all, its a car that may as well look like an FX to anyone travelling from abroad.
Features
Once again, you missed out here. Horrible features. The only thing they've added over previous models is an EFI (Euro 3) and a Bluetooth Ready (be certain, it is only bluetooth capable and will only actually be able to use that feature when you spend an additional 9k) stereo. The seats are as bad as ever. The interior is a hue of cheap plastics which have been coated with cheaper silver color. The controls for the a/c are just as they were on the Khyber (I owned two of those) or the Margalla. No ABS, no EBD, no remote control, no nothing. In fact even the speakers are some random chinese brand.
Now why did we actually buy this car, just so we don't end up fooling ourselves:
Resale
This car sells. Its that simple. Wagon R has little resale.
Cost
We both couldn't afford a Swift so settled on the Cultus.
Parts
We both can't afford to run around and pay 5x the price of OEM parts for a Japanese car.
But never, ever, for a minute second, can we call the "Cut-lus" an amazing car. It has a horrible drive, horrible brakes, cheap components, and lets not forget an absolutely disastrous 1000cc engine that would be called a fire hazard in America. Not to mention the Cultus' famed radiator- which I have had to change thrice from Suzuki's own workshops.
If you disagree, I recommend you take a Mira out for a drive some day. Its cheaper than a Cultus and the drive is as good as Pakistani assembled Corola Xli 2011.
