Your Experience of merc c180 w202

A friend is planing of buying one ... your input regarding actual experience is needed ... specifically fellow pakwheelers who have owned or own a w202 c180 their advice would be really appreciated.

i asked my mechanic what he thought of w202 c180 ... he told me that its a myth that the maintainence of that car is expensive , parts are easily available in shoba and are actually cheaper and that the car runs great on cng .... seems too good to be true but that was faizullah ustad telling me that and i really trust that guy....

sir g pasand hae tou lae lou ...............btw its ok ride height drive handling sub gus haey if u use as a saloon car n nt like a lambo....rest maintainence is expensive if compared 2 xli n civic..n bhai 4rm my experiance if a merc dies on u it will take way more than a manz wallet to bring it 2 life,,, i had an e200 92 model n its engine died due to my aunts negligance and cost me 1200 gbp 2 fix so i just said bye n sold it as it is.......

I had a w220 and had terrible experience with it. I know how to keep cars but the Benz is a terrible car. The model you mentioned is sort of common and has very less electronics so wont have that much issue. If the guy goes for 2007 + Honda that will be far better option. Good luck

Faizullah is a good friend. Knows good about rotaries and Mercedes. He can arrange parts as well as he has good contacts across the border and UAE. But still it is no way possible that this car is easier and cheaper to keep than a corolla or civic. The general parts may be available but I give you an example. I friend had similar car, he was having some problem with his Benz, at last he figure it out that the fuel pressure regulator was faulty. We did our best to find it but couldn't. Atlast we ordered it from UAE. this is just an example.

I have owned and repaired such cars - they are quite robust and very long life, hence expect to replace parts on recommended intervals. Parts are not that expensive but some jobs require special tools and techniques or you may ruin an item. Benz' are not that difficult to repair, they are just built very differently.

About the W202 - its very nicely made, and very very long life, the engine will accept CNG like a duck to water but proper recommendation should be followed there is no room for jugaar

I noted a point above of fuel pressure, It makes me quite sad to see MOST mercedes independant mechanics in Pakistan tackle a job without proper diagnosis, The worst is when they think that they can adjust the Kjetronic by feel
