Just want to update everybody as everyone is yelling here at pakwheels to use Zic oil in their cars specially mehrans. I started using Zic on the advice of oil wala plus due to some suggestions here at pakwheels. But now after using it for like 2 years I am now fully convinced that it?s the worst oil out there.
First off, it loses lubrication much earlier than 5000 km mark which dealers claim it will go. Second, engine becomes heavy after its usage and at higher rpms your engine's noise becomes heavier than usual. Third, your engine can overheat and you might potentially lose your engine.
I did a little research on my own and found out that they falsely acclaim that they are branded/high quality oil; in fact this oil is cheap Korean made (may be made in Pakistan, who knows) and is not the best with respect to price for your vehicle.
The moment you put it into your car your car's noise changes; this oil is good if its priced around 1100 rupees or something but the guys have played clever and they increased the price to 1800 for 3ltr so that people will think it's some good quality oil; kuch to hai iss main jo ye mehnga hai. Plus they do huge cheapish marketing campaigns which multinationals don't.
They pay huge margins to oil store walas out of their margins so that they will recommend this oil to everybody and we are so stupid that we fall for their trick and use this oil and think we have invested safe.
On the other hand I searched on internet and concluded for now that best oil especially for cars driven more than 1lac kms is Castrol magnatec; on paper. So today I put that oil in my car and the moment I drove it I felt the difference in engine noise; the noise at higher rpms is different. My engine has calmed down.
My temp needle, before, used to pass a little more than 50% mark, I did everything but it didn't work but after using Castrol magnatec its stays right on the money.
I don't know if this is your story but if you have a hunch that zic oil is not good despite everybody telling you it's the best then believe me your gut feeling is right. My advice to every pakwheeler is that zic is overpriced, it loses lubrication earlier, not a bang for buck and might not even be good for your car so play safe and go for trusted brand like Castrol or Total; But not zic please.

"Guys, (esp Storm and Zic)
So I have had a bad experience with Zic A + as the check engine light came on while on motorway at 120 with AC a few months ago.(had shifted from havoline to Zic in winters). Once I checked the oil, it seemed to have lost all lubricative property (not chikna) when compared to the new which was in the trunk. Engine had also immediately started to feel heavy. Used a litre of stp after draining oil to help with the lubrication, added bit of spare oil, the engine light went away and got to the destination. The oil had only driven 2800 kms with 55k odo. Mechanic (nazir autos islamabad) also confirmed that they used Zic earlier but had to make 2 engines coz of it despite getting the oils directly from supplier. I also got from a Zic authorized dealer (khurshid autos F10).I switched to Enoc and am happy as the car is running fine.
Any inputs, suggestions, comments from you guys?
I don't mean to bad mouth Zic but I would really have hated to lose my engine coz of it.
Peace"
