Discuss old and new car prices after fresh import

OK, Iv been following this thread since a very long time and have come up with a conclusion that this murtaza_murti guy has created a lot of confusion in this thread, in fact all duty related threads! Iv done my research and feel that your way of calculating the duties is wrong.
The Duty structure is as following:
up to 800cc: 4400
801-1000 : 5500
1001-1300 : 11000
1301-1500 : 15400
1501-1600: 18700
1601-1800 : 23100
1% dep per month.
max dep of 50%.
with additional 50% regulating duty.

So for eg people who want to know the duty of a 2006 1000cc vitz the calculation is as follows:
Duty is $5500, dep 50%
which makes the duty $2750
2750x86= Rs 236,500.
Add the freight charges which will be approx 50k-60k from japan.
Add the regulatory duty of 50%
Add the cost of the vehicle.

Well i may be wrong but this is what i understand of the whole duty structure.

Here you go:

Vitz 1.0L (1000cc) '05 model:

- Duty: PKR: 3,00,000 with taxes, clearance charges and additional charges.
- Vehicle: $6,800 - $7,500 (With a 4.5A grade auction sheet).

Converting $7,500 into PKR which is around 625,000 - 650,000.

Excluding freight charges aswell.

So, it'll cost you around 950,000. It can be less, if you import a car without a 4.5A auction sheet and transport it in a Ro-Ro.

Now for eg the duty u have calculated for a 1000cc car here is 300,000 which i dont know how you came up with, because the actual duty is $2750 after 50% depreciation which makes it Rs:236,500.
Either my info is wrong or you have been using the wrong values.

Tell me what cars rough estimate you want to take out including duty, taxes and transportation charges? I'll do it.

Can you please tell me custom duty of the following models.

Mercedes Benz C180 2007 1800cc petrol
Mercedes Benz C200 2007 1800cc petrol
Mercedes Benz E200 2006 1800cc petrol
Mercedes Benz E220 2006 2200cc diesel
BMW 520d 2006 2000cc diesel

I am planning to import one of these cars from UK European specifications. I would also like to know is there same custom duty on different varients like classic, SE, elegance, avantgarde, execuitive and sport or they charge different. Is there different custom duty on importing car European brand car from japan with Japanese specifications or it's same.

as per dawn newspaper 10 december 2010.

In 2008-09, the government had imposed 50 per cent regulatory duty followed by 12.5 per cent increase in customs duty and cut in depreciation to one per cent from two per cent.
As per the decision, now the importers could avail depreciation in value of cars up to 50 per cent for assessment of duty. Currently, the depreciation is only one per cent per month, which means a maximum of 36 per cent in value.

But now enhancing the age limit to 60 months, an importer could avail a maximum of 50 per cent depreciation in value of car for assessment of duty.

But then there are things that needs further clarification as how will the regulatory duty be charged, as the table above does not take that in to consideration, so we will need some one more knowledgeable to work that part for us.
Again this table represents only the duty part and not the FOB price or shipment of vehicle from country of origin to Karachi

Cabinet approves five-year old cars' import

ISLAMABAD (updated on: 2011-01-26 22:08:55 PST):
The Federal Cabinet on Wednesday allowed import of five-year old used vehicles to bring the rising prices of cars in the country within the reach of common man.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Federal Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani that took into account the complaints of a sharp hike in the prices of locally manufactured cars.

"The Cabinet decided to approve the import of five-year old used cars," Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira said while briefing reporters on the decisions.

He clarified that the Prime Minister never overruled the Cabinet decision to allow import of used cars. He added that the Prime Minister had postponed the decision till the next meeting of Cabinet and the reports in media that earlier decision had been overruled, were totally incorrect.

fasal iqbal's duty structure is correct .
BUT
big importers have links with custom officers which helps them to trick tax payments in different ways.

importers never pick expensive vitz , and they have discount system for buying more vehicles and auction vehicles are relatively very cheap as compared to host country market price. same auction vitz cost around 3 - 4 lacks , not 6-7 lacks

importers earns profits upto 80k and more, in 1 million car.
