Default Blue Smoke/Engine Burning Oil Vitz 2010

Salam: I owned Toyota Vitz 2010 in 2013 which was driven 23K according to ODO meter and now it is around 80K. Few days before I noticed during weekly checkup that car exhausts blue smoke when I raised its RPM to 35000, I also noticed that it reduce Engine Oil to 0.2 - 0.4 Liters during first 1000 KMs.

I Checked it to Toyota Islamabad motors they said that Engine required overhauling and Piston rings needs to be changed.
Same wording listens from other reliable mechanics.

Both persons also suggest to replace engine.

The current Engine is 1KR-FE 1.0L. The condition is very good. Good mileage, no vibration, no extra sound very smooth driving with or without A/C. I always use HI-Octane (never Mix with super). Use 20w-50 Zic Engine oil. Also check plugs they are also fine.

Kindly suggest how can I save my existing Engine or what do you people think to overhauling it or replace with same one or 1.3L ?

Replacement of head assembly is cheaper as opposed to complete engine replacement. Best of luck
From where you get 1.3 L engine what was its condition when you purchased it, did you also replace ECU, Wiring etc. What was the total cost?

I got the Engine from Lahore Bilal Gunj but I would recommend you getting the Engine from Rawalpindi or Peshawar. I got the following things replaced

Engine with Gearbox, ECU and complete wiring along with AC Compressor Rs 82,000
Inner and Outer Axles Rs 8000
Exhaust Pipeline Locally Fabricated since couldn't find the original one Rs. 10000
Labor and Oil Lubricants Rs. 23000

I also checked the head assembly of 1KR-FE and that was for around 45000 but I was not satisfied with the performance of this engine since i've driven it for 7 years now. It was underpowered, noisy and very rough although i've been using Hi-Octane all along. The fuel average was 10-12Km/l in City and 15-16.5 Km/l on Motorway and GT Road which was satisfactory.

I got the 2SZ-FE 1.3ltr engine, the noise has reduced, the engine is powerful, very smooth drive. I haven't been able to guage the fuel mileage but from the looks of it its somewhere around the 1KR-FE Engine.

Ok thats the correct estimate and the oem parts will cost you this price but keep in mind that. If the toyota guys will do the rebuild they will change every thing i.e crank bearings, conn rod assy, thrus bearings ultimatly they wont take a chance. Because they will be responsible for the rebuild. Same for the scenario of swap they will source the scrap engine with good condition and after general services they will be responsible of the swapeed enginee......

My opinion is go for the rebuild by local person who knows how to rebuild it and how to handle such engines and had the experience of rebuilding these small motors. Also do get quotation from Rehman auto's. As well

I guess valve seals are shot, do you see blue smoke always when you drive also or only when you start the car and after some time it vanishes or comes with high rev

Just a small piece of Advice.
Dont let him do any custom jobs/fitting, He will simply ruin your car. Always go for oem stuff. one more thing, with 1.3L engine swap, you will face problem in selling the car later on. its better to stick with the current engine. Just rebuilt the engine with OEM new parts. Dont go for Kabli, if you dont have any prior experience of swapping junk parts.
Still if your are more inclined towards 1.3L swap, get hold of Vitz half cut and then go for swap, alteast you will be having all required parts.

Get the both quotations from him and rely on his previous experience. If he is not rebuilding with oem parts then save your precious amount and go for the swap. At least they are giving you the warranty.

With OEM parts cost goes up to 70K+ and with custom up to 32K...If I will go with OEM what do you people think it is meaningful to spend 70k amount to rebuild a 1000 cc engine. I checked in Rawalpindi the 1.3 L engine is available for swapping in 50K but don't know the condition of engine and they are also offering warranty of 2 Months.

Now on Palwheelers experience can you guide me what is better?

My suggestion is swap with a 1000cc or 1300cc. Don't go for a rebuild

No need to spend 70k +. If the 35k work is going to work dont waste the amount save it for later uses i.e major services. Cvtf trans oil replacement. Brake service. Syenthetic engine oils and lubes. And etc

Well I don't hopefully intend to sell the car anytime soon. Do not too worried about the resale.
