Bhai the main problem here is that everyone has driven a JDM 660cc in past few years since the alto and santro have been discontinued ,many own one too. This wagon r was a golden opportunity for people like us to sell our old JDM cars and buy a similar car. However this is not similar to its Japanese counterpart. We're used to auto tranny, abs, etc but this is more of a souped up Mehran. Which leaves us no option but to keep our old jdms or upgrade to a swift by spending more money.
Alot of people were looking forward to a good replacement, and as paksuzuki has come up with exceptionally good cars - especially the swift, we were expecting the full deal from suzuki. However they've disappointed us.
Which is why you're seeing so many people whining and crying. And you can't blame them. We are all sick of buying 'copy' /Chinese/second hand parts for our jdms and were really looking forward to finally buy a 'mini swift' (a complete mini hatchback) with all parts and servicing easily available.

Because my even more pyaaray bhai, Suzuki changed all that with the swift. After driving the swift you automatically assume that the next car they will launch will be as good as this.
Look at the new civic - it has all the features found in the civic available internationally.
Hopefully the upcoming corolla (looking at the spy pictures) will have all the basic safety and security features.
My point here is that this mentality thing is changing in our country for once. We've More well equipped cars, yes they're highly priced but at least they're at par with cars available internationally.
When the swift came out in 2010, it was priced at 10 lacs 35 thousand. Which is extremely reasonable. And it has sold very well. I've one and have driven it for around 61,000 kms without any issue.

The price of even 10 lacs could've been justified if the wagon r had at least abs and auto tranny.

I think that Suzuki should have replaced the alto with the new maruti alto and cultus with Ritz(called splash in some markets) with a 1.0L engine. That would have been the best for Suzuki, Wagon-R shape is a bit odd which is not generally accepted by the Pakistani people(even JDM wagons haven't been successful). Ritz length and width is almost same as cultus and it would have been perfect replacement.
Another option for the replacement of alto would have been newly launched Celerio.

In my opinion we should appreciate paksuzuki for launching a new car into the 1000cc segment. Paksuzuki is not forcing us to buy this car but atlease they have introduced a new option. Toyota and honda have a wide range of small cars in the outer world but they did not bother to introduce new cars for the low income segment of pakistan.

Now if this car is not good, it can be failed by the customers any time like the suzuki liana which failed to meet customer expectation and was essentially wiped out.

Also comparing a brand new car to a used jdm is not understandable to me. A new car is bound to work flawlessly for atleast a period of 3 years but with the used car, you dont know what will be happen the next mile you cover on the road. For me i will prefer a new car any time any day even if your used JDM's have the option to take me to space and bring me back to earth.

Some people mentioned in earlier posts, they were expecting Airbags, traction and climate control in this vehicle at a price of 800k, i have one question to them, Does you top of the line civic or corolla comes with side curtain airbags and traction or beloved Xli come with abs in the 21st centruty? This is pakistan so we should think realistically and appreicate if a company has made an effort. End of the day no one is forcing us to buy this suzuki wagon R.

There is a huge price difference of Wagon-R between india and pakistan. In india Wagon-R price in PKR starts from around 5,69000 and top of the line model is around 7,10,000. The top model in price 7,10000 has below features which our top model in 10,89000 doesn't have:
1. ABS
2. Tilt adjustable steering
3. Power windows rear
4. Adjustable headlights
5. Fog lights front and rear
6. Rear window wiper
7. Rear speakers
8. Driver airbag

Are you talking about JDM parts generally or PKDM Wagon R parts:P?
If the latter, I am sure PS is importing in bulk, so more cheaper.

Choice obviously matters but I suppose pkdms are not value for money no comfort and luxury as compared to jdm's although I donot travel much my 05 civic bought brand new is still 47000kms on the odo but now ill definitely move on to a jdm

And how are JDM's value for money?
Most " Fresh, reconditioned " JDM's need all their fluids, filters changed etc. Then you have small problems like fuel economy, knocking, worn out parts- At least 2 days spent searching for them in the shady parts of town.
Then you have to use Hi-octane in most of the cars, cannot fathom what the dash or the lcd screen says- It's all in Japanese.
Not even sure if Air bags will blow up as the dealer said " Aath air begs hay is main".

Han, self import JDM is true value for money. I agree to that!

Yeah exactly the peace of mind after spending so many bucks. Local imoort mafia is just ripping off people. My civic is still peace of mind and I won't sell it I know it wont be visiting workshops in next 3 years even

The car is definitely over priced. The Wagon R VXL with same specs in India is costing 413360 INR which is equivalent to 682044 PKR. (Even if Pak Suzuki can add 200K in it the car should have been a better bargain). I was thinking to replace my CULTUS 2000 with it but after seeing the price tag and comparing it with specs better to look out for other options...
