Greetings,
It's been a very long time since I've posted something on this thread. Since detailing is my hobby so I have tested some very interesting new products in the past and this time I have appeared with a detailed review on Opti-Coat 2.0. This is the 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] vehicle that I have done OC on and this time I thought to write a review on it as well.
Optimum: Opti-Coat 2.0 (Manufacturer Description):
Optimum Opti-Coat 2.0 is a permanent coating that protects automotive paint over its lifetime! Unlike a wax or sealant, Optimum Opti-Coat 2.0 will not wash or wear off. It acts as a second layer of clear coat, which provides increased protection against the elements.
Initial Product Observations:
- Packaging & Contents: Packed in a box were (1) LARGE Syringe with threaded insert cap, threaded applicator cap, (1) foam applicator pad, and (1) MF towel
- Directions to apply: Some direction on Syringe itself but mostly I learned from different online forums and youtube videos
- Color and Consistency: Clear Fluid
- Size: 20cc
- Price: $79.99
- Manufacturer: Optimum Polymer Technologies, Inc. USA
It all started with washing the car with Meguiar's Ultimate wash & Wax. Dried it using Meguiar's water Magnet.
Before Wash:

After Wash:

Then clayed the whole car with Meguiar's professional clay (Mild), using ONR as clay lube. Because Optimum Opti-Coat 2.0 is permanent, the paint finish has to be properly prepared before applying it. Any blemishes or contamination on the paint will be permanently locked in so its pertinent remove them first. So I started with Meguiar's ultimate compound with LC orange CCS pad using Porter Cable PC7424xp to clean the below surface imperfections like swirls and rids. Though It had very few swilrs and some rids but I 'm sort of a person who always goes for "The perfection". Later I followed with Meguiar's 205 using LC white polishing pad.
My personal belief is that the beauty comes from the paint preparation. So I tried to make the paint as perfect as possible for me and thus I did the 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] step of burnishing the paint with Meguiar's ultimate polish with LC black pad using multiple section passes which Michael Phillips refers to as "frosting on the cake".

Again washed the car second time using ONR and dried it. Then stripped the paint using Carpro Eraser to remove any polishing oils from the paint surface.
Quoting Carpro: "Carpro Eraser is specifically designed for the complete removal of polishing oils for inspection and prior to the application of CQuartz or any other coating, wax, or sealant."
After ONR wash n shine:

Now the car was ready for Opti-coat 2.0 application.
