well, the quality of Chinese cars have improved in recent years a lot. i use to visit various Chinese forums & i found that the user satisfactory level is quite ok. Considering the fact that these cars exist in the world's largest market so no car can get successful unless it has something good to offer. Issues & recalls are the part of any automobile brand, be it highly sophisticated German or Japanese automobiles, after all these are machines and anything can go wrong with them, so is the case with these Chinese cars, but the positive thing is that most of the Chinese cars are covered with 3 year/ 60,000km + warranty so that's another key factor.
Now why can't these cars come here in Pakistan is a different story. The import duties have been deliberately implemented by our government in such a way as to protect the interests our local monopolists as much as possible. I was having a word with the official spare part dealer of Geely recently, new CKs aren't being imported because the duty structure makes them fall in an unrealistic price bracket so they aren't importing new ones. As long as the government is unwilling to do anything better to our local auto industry, nothing can happen.
There is no rocket science involved in these cars, they are using the same automotive technology which is being used by auto manufacturers around the world. Its however our irony that only obsolete carburetor cars are happily accepted here by our technicians. We can only hope if someday we might have good enough variety among automobiles to choose from.
