Default Self Tuning - Khyber G-10 (Plugs, valve clearance, spark gap etc)

    Salam

    dear members/experts

I own a khyber 1996. Recently overhauled its engine completely at home by myself except the mechanist part. It has its first oil change at 1100Km yesterday and i am planning to tune it. I have following query for the learned members/experts

Q.1. recommended spark plugs for khyber g-10 on CNG
    Q.2. Recommended spark plug gap?
    Q.3. Recommended tappet setting Hot/cold?
Q.4. Running was on petrol with Caltex Havoline formula and now i have switched to CNG with Shell helix HX7 10-40W (synthetic) , is shell HX7 ok?

What else should i do or check to get max output and efficiency from my g-10?

    regards

after-note: In addition to the above queries, this thread also contains info on carburetor, AC, electrical, cooling system, brakes & gear issues related to khyber G-10.

Special thanks to following experts :
Xulfiqar, Fas133, Margallar, Ahsanzs, wasay_Ahmad, Xplorer, jz, Daniyal
for their valuable contributions and last but not least
I am greatful to Cracked for keeping this thread alive by
    raising all the queries/question.

    @All
    Hey and Salam!
    How are your Khybers?
Nice to see this thread still going great.
One of the most difficult things in the world is to know how to do something, and to watch without comment, somebody else do it incorrectly.

Now it may be like 250 in lahore and say 300 in pindi but 450 is not justified...

    Anyone from pindi/islamabad?

    Default running rich on petrol?

I have faced problem on petrol for the second time. When CNG finishes and i switch to petrol, it overflows and engine stalls. I have seen petrol dripping out of carb. First i thought it could be due to pressure in the fuel tank. But this time i have clearly noticed that the petrol is way too much that it tends to stall at idle. Also saw black smoke in the morning.
I may need to averhaul the carb.

The thing i need to know is The two jet sizes. As two years back i could not find the right size (or i should say, the mechanic suggested size), so some how he adjusted the mixture but i was not satisfied.
That time i was having the problem of engine power loss at pressing the pedal swiftly. On soft press it was fine.
I think if i set the mixture right the problem may arise again. Throttle pump was fine last time. What could be other reasons for such problem?

you need to clean or replace the needle valve and set the float height correctly, if its high no amount of swapping jets or fiddling with the idle mixture screw will be helpful.

The height is mentioned in the repair manual, and be sure that all air bleed passages are open - otherwise the petrol will not foam up correctly for induction.

so the engine bogging at pressing throttle may be due to incorrect float height?
Can i just unscrew the needle valve to check and clean or it can only be done by opening up the carb?

you need to remove the carburettor top to see and adjust the needle valve. Unless your carburettor has a sight glass and an external set screw

If anyone want to simulate the same behaviour, just close the cylinder valve and start your car... or remove an electrical connection to the main solenoid valve of the CNG kit...

Some how in the morning your CNG kit main solenoid valve does not opens. Could be due to weak solenoid, weak electrical connections to it or low battery volts before cranking. Low battery volts may be due to direct radiator fan or anything that turns on before sulf... or simply weak battery...

This valve of CNG kit opens when we turn the key to ON position before ignition with a tuk sound and if we do not crank, it turn back off with another tuk sound.

    @Usb144

All that could be said regarding your issue has been said by "Metalhead".

In addition to electrical cause , the inner piston of the double piston solenoid may be sticking after being pressed closed overnight coz of sludge formation. so cleaning the contact area/rubber ring and slightly lubricating the inner surface of piston will do the job.

Do confirm the copper spring inside is of correct type. replace if necessary.

mixture screw is outside but needle valve is inside the carb it closes the flow of petrol to float bowl with the help of float.

Its marked as item#39 in the reference given below and also the recommended float setting in the other link

I got it now, i should have looked back at those images. Actually the mixture set screw looks more like a needle than the float needle which is like a pencil, so got confused.

I will try to get it adjusted today as it needs opening of the carb
    Thanks
