Thumbs up Civic Oriel Vs Civic i-Vtec Vs ALtis 1.6 SR --Final Rundown

    Hello All,

There has been a great debate around the forum about the pros and cons about two major Car Rivals. Yes I am talking about Honda Civic and Toyota Altis.
So I decided to place all that I can, in black and white for all to see and come with their own ideas for improvement and for all like me who wish for an upgrade and are at cross roads of decision.

Please feel free to suggest our ideas and your Votes for the vehicles in comparison i.e

    1. CIVIC ORIEL MANUAL
    2. CIVIC I-VTEC MANUAL
    3. ALTIS1.6 MANUAL (NON SR)

I have tried to compare the features as per my knowledge and understanding.
    Attachment Include the following
    1. Comparison Sheet
    2. Civic Interior
    3. Altis Interior
    4. Civic Odo Cluster
    5. Altis Cluster

PLEASE SUGGEST NEW IMPROVEMENTS AND ALSO YOUR VOTES

    Regards

Correction:Retractable mirrors are present in both SR and none SR versions of Altis. But the concept is wrong why you are comparing oriel with vti and none SR versions. And if i am not wrong seats of both oriel and vti are same .No difference both are wooden hard.

After sitting in cockpit of Civic 1.8, everyother car in Pakistan seems boring. That is why I brought second Civic 1.8 Oriel after selling my first one.

As it is said, a person who has a little interest in honda will buy a honda and same goes for toyota.

The other day I drove my colleague's altis 1.8 Cruisetronic SR. When compared with my 2009 Civic Oriel Prosmetec I found the driver's seat having absolutely no side and thigh bolsteing. It was like sitting on a park bench.

And despite pushing the seat to the further most point, I still found little leg room.

The sunglasses holder next to the sunroof button was pretty cool though...........

    Just my honest observations....

FOr which car you are telling your seat observations. And for legroom the corolla has more rear leg room.Thats why you found more legroom.

    umair2203: Marvelous comparison i will give it 9 out of 10 ..

The below comparison is based on my own Experience.
Altis provides more features then Civic I-vtec at the same price but for me Altis is boring those Extra features aren't that necessary main thing which is important is Ride quality + Driving Experience, and Civic has all the necessary Features which makes it Exciting to Drive.
When sitting in Altis it looks like a bit modified version of XLi (Most of the XLi's r converted almost like Altis Except Steering + speed dials etc..) , while sitting in Civic it gives All new experience.. Just look at the stylish Dashboard and Digital speedometer + the civic has much better Road Grip as compared to Corolla..

Toyota is trying hard to pitch up Altis Market ! After trying thier luck in 1800 class, They have shifted to Altis 1.6 !

They have also Introduced Better engine (Dual VVTI)
Here is the brief intro : VVT-i - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Coming back to the point, despite featuring all luxury features , Altis seems to lag behind in competition with Civic !

I guess the biggest reason is, when people pay extra , they want to see something different.
    To back up my comment
Compare Honda City and Civic Interior (BIG DIFFERENCE)
Whereas There is a slight difference between XLI/GLI interior and Altis (Optitron Cluster seems unable to give a entire new feel)

On the exterior also , The FRAME IS THE SAME !

I guess if Toyota want to come in pace with its rival, it needs to redesign its 1800 cc category

What do you guys think ?

When once again the thread is here, id say the 1.6L Gli auto trany is a head to head competitor to Vti Prosmatec Civic both the cars have more or less similar features. Both of them share the same engine as of the top variant and both are striped off variants.
Get over the fact that Xli lacks power windows, Its an Xli because it lacks thoose features or else it would be a Gli or an Altis if had all the goodies.

@ mubeen, found the altis to be pretty cozy.... the tunnel containing the gas and brake pedal wasn"t as spacious as the civic.

And as for corolla having more rear legroom I wold have to disagree with you brother. You see the distance between the bottom of B pillar and lower cushion of rear seat is less in corolla.

Really loved the EPS of Altis. It was so light and working like breeze....
