Assalam o Alaikum.
Hope all of you brothers are doing well. I purchased my civic (1.8 NA) back in 2017 and I have driven it around 118k km now. I noticed a slight difference in performance a couple of years back when i drove my friend's civic x 2018 model. There was a difference in throttle response. My friend's car felt lighter and much more responsive from 3000 rpm onwards to 5500 rpm. That car felt effortless. It really wanted me to push it beyond its limits and I had a great time driving his car. The same acceleration in the same power band felt a little sluggish on my car and made my car felt heavier. I decided to go for catalytic converter cleaning but was advised against it by a friend (he also owns a civic too but a 1.5T) who has good knowledge about cars. He showed me the car manual and it no where stated that cat service or cleaning is required.
Just some information about my car. I have gotten my car's throttle body cleaned from Honda previously. It has been maintained by Honda through out its life. I enjoy driving it still and I feel like it still drives like new but after driving my friend's car, I have realized that there is a performance difference. These days in the summers, it is giving me a fuel avg. of 9 - 10 km/L. I had gotten the spark plugs changed around 90k when I first drove my friends car around 2 years back and noticed a difference in performance but I still feel its not near as good as his.
If you all do suggest me to get the service done, where do you suggest me to get it done from? Honda dealership is charging upwards of 8k which just feels wrong. Please suggest. Thank you in advance.
