My dealership is giving my reason for delay that the company has stopped the production of Turbos and engineers are working to resolve the issues.

I just received mine 2 days ago Alhamdolillah

When did you book your car?

End of December with partial payment, remaining in January 3rd week

Need your advise in deciding between oriel and 1.5T. Naturally I am tilted towards 1.5T because of new technology, more power and added features but after reviewing discussions on this forum and some others I am confused. I am not an expert on automobiles and I try to seek knowledge from forums like this one.
My major concerns are;

1. VSA malfunctioning in 1.5T. Although there are some encouraging feedbacks but still this issue is a big question mark.


2. Infotainment system issues. I am not much worried about it as I suppose it will be resolved by Altas in near future if not already resolved.


3. My biggest worry is the maintenance cost of Turbo engine. I have been reading that turbo engine produces much higher heat and stresses on engine parts are high. There are chances of cables melting, water body leak and even gaskit damage with ageing of engine. I do not want to end up paying heavy maintenance costs after 3 or 4 years.
   Moreover is there any difference in mileage criteria for oil change of 1.5T as compared to Oriel and if same or different oil is recommended for both versions?

Almost all of the questions are answered by urself,

1- VSA...yupp...it still has got some issues with most of the Turbo users...but some are lucky enough to have hands on clean Tubro....DONT GO FOR TURBO

2- Infotainment system...It has also some glitches but personally i think these would be resolved with the passage of time...further more you have an option of after market or Oriel system for the installation but that will majorly void your electrical warranty....GO FOR TURBO.

3- Turbo engines definitely require more maintenance but that is something to be worried after 3 to 4 years...who knows what is going to happen after 4 years....but if you have plan to maintain your ride from the open market then you would be in trouble as you wont find good mechanics of Turbo engine in Pakistani market....

In addition to that think about resale also...a person like me will definitely think twice before purchasing a second hand Turbo due to the couple of following reasons,
a- May be this turbo didnt run on hi octane all the time, no matter how honest the seller is.
b- Dont know whether this Turbo is having a VSA problem in it or not since you could not find this fault in one or two test drives.

So i would prefer to go for Oriel while purchasing second hand.

Conclusion: I personally think you should go for Oriel. Rest its your decision...

If you don't want to spend money on maintaining a Turbo Charged Engine (As per your point # 03) go for Oriel.

Has anyone upgraded the sound system of there civic 1.5T?
The speakers of this civic is really pathetic.
I am thinking to add speakers and a amplifier in the trunk. And I Dont have much experience regarding sound systems so some advice needed.

Sound system depends upon your budget...-
Visit "Entertainment on Wheels" Lahore. They have a FB page.

They have everything you need and installation experts as well. Don't give your brans new car to trainees in local market to ruin it...

I suggest you dont go for after market music system as it will void your car warranty and also as soon as you car door panels open for the installation, your car will start rattling from everywhere....keep it safe, sound and secure atleast for 2 years or uptill the warranty period you have opted for.

To answer your question, Yes the Turbo production is stopped for the rest of Feb and maybe also March. Reason is that they are preparing for the launch of BR-V. Got this information from Classic Honda owner.

Real pity that they have only one assembly line. So now the same one assembly line will be making City, Aspire, Oriel, Turbo and now BR-V.

There is one more factor to consider when choosing between 1.8 car and 1,5 car. The registration costs. The smaller engine car will be much cheaper to register. With the money saved you can go for the 4 year extended warranty and buy the 1.5 car

Yes Bro. It is true and even logically look at extended warrenty package prices difference (More for 1.5T) so Honda also knows that after 2 years there will be more problems with Turbo engine and they are expecting more claims...-

In fact Best suggestion. Don't go for after market sound system first 2 years or if really necessary find a professional person to install system which you cannot find in local market. All local mechanic are Unprofessional Ustad with a Chhota working with them and 80% of work will be done by that Chhota while Ustad is sitting and smoking like he is big boss with a lot of knowledge and experience...-

Well mostly talked about issues are from the cars delivered in 2016. I got it in 2017 and couple of other people, no issue at all, be it infotainment system, VSA or fuel related issue.

Go for Turbo eyes closed and you won't repent it as it is latest gen engine with bright future

We should not forget that this engine and car has been around 1.5 years with same engine internationally.

So GO FOR TURBO and enjoy

Unfortunately we are living in Pakistan bro..so we have to take decisions considering the conditions in Pakistan....May be Turbo would have a bright future but currently at this stage it has got problems in Pakistan which seems to be persisting in coming couple of years as they are not attended by Honda Atlas seriously.....so until and unless you are not a show off person the guys who are going to buy this Civic X should wait for 2 to 3 years...lets c where this new technology goes then definitely purchase it...this is the wisest decision at this stage...

After going through similar posts i have came to quite simple conclusion i.e People who are not much worried about resale and after sale service stuff and spending few extra bucks is not a big deal they are going for Turbo eye closed.

Others who are calculated buyers and are concerned about next 2, 3 years are taking cautious decison and going for a safer bet which is Oriel.

Now you decide which category you fall in... your choice would be simpler like mine.

the new batch cars delivered to people 2017 models dont have VSA and Infotainment system issues as not a single owner reported it.
No knowledge about turbo maintenance but it would be greater than legend r18

Turbo is not a new technology, its been used in cars since late 50s. I kept a turbo charade from early to mid 90s. It was the then fastest car available in pk. It was just 1 litre engine it was not 1.5 litre DOHC engine like Civic 1.5T and I used to take it to its limits almost every day and when I sold it after 5 years, the engine was still in perfect condition. During this time routine maintenance was done. The technology has advanced manifold during till now, which concludes that there is no reason to be worried about turbo car maintenance or early wear tear of engine.

Turbo car is obviously for those who like to race and have fun with the extended acceleration. Heavy traffic in large cities is not a valid reason to avoid turbos, since people also keep 300+hp sports cars in same cities. If you own a fast car, it doesn't mean that you should always be sitting in the driving seat with helmet on the head and right foot on the gas pedal to beat the shit out of every other car on every traffic signal. When you know you have the power, you don't need to display it all the time. Keeping a fast car is a fun and every city has places where you can floor your car to quench your need for speed. Sometimes on highways and even on regular roads you need that extra power to safely overtake and get back to your lane.

by the way which car esthusiast wouldnt like to have the extra spare horses under his foot which can be used anytime for fun or for a drag unless he is aged 45 plus
