Well, it was with a heavy heart, I have changed my booking from 1.5T (delivery May-17) to Oriel (delivery Apr-17). While I was at the dealer, I discussed the Turbo issue with some detail before I changed over. I was informed that there is a genuine concern with the 1.5 engine. Both Japanese and Thai engineers have been here for about a month and still working on the knocking issue. When I asked him about how many turbo's were delivered in the last two months, I was informed in Feb: 6 against 14 bookings and in March 8 cars against 16 bookings. So we cannot say that there are no deliveries of Turbo but they are VERY slow.
My next question to him was, if the turbo supplied to me develops a knocking sound and I drop the car here and it takes, say a week to fix it will you give me a curtsy car? or should I have a second car for the that time the turbo spends in the workshop? Obviously, no dealer in Pakistan has ever given a curtsy car. Hence it is rather silly to have a backup car just in case the 3 million Rupee car decides to start knocking.
So for trouble free miles I switched to the Oriel with the lower powered but well proven engine.
