I don't know how people say 'im running HOBC in my Grande' or 'im running HOBC in my Swift'. Personally I've never had a car that responded well to pure HOBC (other than giving better mileage which always happens). Bought Dewan Lancer 1.3 Auto brand new in 2006. After few thousand Kms it started pinging. I switched to HOBC and it magically disappeared. So I kept using it. At about 20k Kms when I went for tuning I discovered that the plugs, intake and throttle body were full of carbon. My mechanic advised me to stop using pure HOBC. And yes, after that I didn't have as much carbon. Probably there was unburned fuel causing that.
Even in my ex Reborn and now CL9 which have 10.5 compression ratios, the absolute max HOBC I sometimes mix is Rs 1000 with every tankful. Otherwise car starts sounding rough. Same for Turbo, too much carbon on exhaust tips should mean too much deposits on catcon too. That's why I'm a bit apprehensive. Not to mention the fact that I sleep well cuz I know if it starts knocking, I can always go to a higher HOBC mix to solve that.
