This is what I fail to understand too,

on one hand they want a full warranty forever - and on the other hand they want zero maintenance too (toita, hundaa mazboot gadi hain) - and drive them into the ground, then proceed complain and moan online ecause something failed due to no maintenance - including engine oil now as its close to USD 100 for an oil change now with the fancy 0w16 and 0w20 oils.

btw - the paint on Pakistani assembled cars are quite heavy compared to the "jdm" and other markets. this case of rusting on new civics is missing primer on door assemblies (if its just limited to doors, I think it maybe in structure parts too but owners have never checked - as it interferes with 3 times a week washings)

This rust issue is only present in doors and is something not new.

My 7th gen Civic which I have since Day 1 has this problem as well. Rusting under door rubbers, around lock mechanism, door jambs, inside the door, I faced this problem since the time car was relatively new. Got the doors painted from inside after treatment. But the rust eventually comes back but at a slower pace.

The rest of the body is absolutely rust free. I have personally inspected the undercarriage, removed carpet to inspect floor, engine bay, trunk area. No rust.

Only the wheel arches and foot board now have spots of rust.

I honestly don’t get why you are making fun of yourselves. This self obsessed MAESTRO and bold attitude as if you are some automotive god within yourself is nothing but an issue with you.

In Pakistan it is absolutely normal to get your cars washed every alternative day or after every 3 days and by the way this routine is something which is rather less than normal. Mostly it is daily washing in most houses and we can afford drivers who do this for us unlike you so stop creating a joke for the heck of showing your expert attitude.

By the way I wonder what a person like you is doing on an automotive forum with probably moderator rights also because a car enthusiast cannot keep driving a dirty car or doesn’t care about washing his car or taking care of his car. Fine we ourselves have enough free time to waste, its not like we ask you for a salary and don’t fulfill our duties towards you.

It is extremely immature from a senior member like you who thinks of himself as an expert and Jeremy Clarkson of Pakwheels showing his bold attitude that you have totally missed the point of comparative treatment of different cars in a similar manner and has for no reason stuck on to it like a child who is stubborn on doing something even if it isn’t right.

maestro? Some people on PW started assuming Im someone important, I actually am not - some people on PW started claiming that for me for reasons they best know. It just happens that I do automotive and industrial diagnostic and repair work pretty decently and can present it in simple language.

and furthermore Im no encyclopedia either, I just present/post what I have done myself whether it be mechanical repair or warranty documentation. (which you guys dont like anyway - as proven by you and the moderator fazalwahab)

but still, washing a car 3 times a week - that is still worthy of a laugh. I lived in Pakistan and literally didnt have time to wash my cars in 2 weeks, I also was so poor that I could not afford to hire drivers or maids and as a car enthusiast I dont like other people washing my car with a dirty rag and waste several thousand gallons of water and pricey wash soap when I can do it quicker, more efficient and cleaner with my pressure washer - so in that case, you better look in a mirror first. LOL.

btw - check on my status, Im not a moderator at all, big chief mods like fazalwahab can ban/block me anytime they want. (take hint, and msg him and other mods to ban/block me)

My car is washed 2 times daily with Surf kuch bhe nahi howa. Suba ko alag banda Saaf karta hai sharam ko alag.

At 113k kms in a four year old car. Washed twice or thrice a week. No rust here either.

Sir I feel like the topic has derailed quite a bit. I think Xulfiqar's point is that making noise here wont do much and if you really want something to happen, the issue should be taken up in a professional manner with the affected owners collecting evidence in a professional manner that can be presentable in a court of law and be verifiable by an independent third party. He even mentioned in one of his posts above that the cars rusted in this manner must lack primer underneath and may even have structural rust underneath. However, such collective movements rarely happen in Pakistan and most probably all the affected owners will get it fixed by a third party and sell it off sometime later. Frankly (like you say in your car reviews ), no one has the time and energy here to deal with such matters in Pakistan.

I understand your point of comparative treatment of different cars over a certain period of time showing different levels of rust, sort of like a clinical trial where the researcher controls the exposure and observes the outcome in the subjects. And I agree with this point. I have a 2011 8th gen in house and I haven't seen such type of rust on that car till now.

But the point is what can be done now? How far are we willing to pursue this matter? Good to see Atlas has finally noticed the issue but it would be even better if they issue a nationwide recall and in future every local manufacturer start offering rust warranty due to ruling of the court being mandated into law as consumer protection. Hope this time they don't label this recall as "free upgrade" LOL

Hi guys, as I mentioned two weeks ago I got my Civic X 1.8's fuel pump replaced under warranty after the previous one suddenly failed leaving me stranded on the road. Ever since the new fuel pump is installed, I have been putting 60/40 super and hi octane mix as well. The car drove fine for two weeks.

So today, my car suddenly turned off again (same way when the previous fuel pump failed). I started the car again and this time it started (I didn't get stranded this time)...but after I drove for a few seconds it turned off again and started after trying to start it for 5-6 seconds. After that, the car drove just fine. I gave raise and drove with heavy foot but nothing happened, all seemed fine.

I wonder what exactly went wrong? Is it that fuel tank is dirty (the car is driven only 12k) or was it some 'kachra' in the fuel tank that got stuck? I don't know much technicalities if you experts can advice. Thanks.

It seems that may be some very bad fuel is still there. Better to take it to dealership.
