1303 Super Beetle - Restoration Project

I have finally decided to start a thread for the restoration of my VW Super Beetle 1303!
I purchased this car in March 2010. Since then, I have not been able to drive it as much as I wanted too, but it has introduced me to a great group of people, that is the VWCOP! I am indebted to this fine group of people who have been advising / assisting me in planning the restoration project during the last few months. My sincerest thanks to Storm and Romano who have always been a great help, and have been just a phone call away!
My thanks are also due to the fine gentleman, Mr Shakil Qureshi who helped me select this particular car by checking it out and giving me the go-ahead to buy it, and then introduced me to the famous Khalid VW Mechanic.
To have a 1303 has been a dream of mine, which was put on hold for the last many years. I have been lucky to find a good solid car, and the intention is to restore it as original as it can be!

The car is currently at Khalid's workshop. The floor pans are being sanded down and resprayed (Matt black). The inside is complete, while the underside of floorpans has been sanded down and surface rust removed, and is due to be painted today. The wheel rims are being restored separately, and have been repaired (edges straightened), rust removed. sanded down to bare metal, hopefully will be painted today. The reason to restore the wheel rims, other then asthetic, was that tubeless tires should be possible. Took quite an effort to find the right paint code for the wheel rims, but with the assistance of storm, we managed to find the correct paint code for wheel rims of the '74 1303 Super Beetle!
The front suspension overhaul is scheduled for the weekend.

sandblast the rims with coarse media first or mollasess the rust out - before having them powder coated like the original rims - btw that is one nice car you have bought..

I would love to do the suspension work by my own hand - and with original greases and lubes, the ride comfort of a 1302 and a 1303 is very very nice compared to even modern cars

I wanted to do sand blasting and powdercoating, but that will be done on the Marathon Rims that I have bought for it. I would also love to do the suspension works myself, but dont have the facilities.

without a doubt, this is one of the cleanest 1303's i've ever seen in PK. and the attention to detail which is being carried out on this car is amazing. Zaigham is new to VW's and he's already teaching me things,.. that's how dedicated he is!

MashAllah, when this project is only half way through it'll already hold the crown as the best 1303 in PK (if it isn't already)

Agreed with both of you guys, I have personally haven't seen a cleaner 1303 than this, real head turner!

@ Basharatu ... thanks for the compliments. But it is still a long way off from where it has to go. Lets hope and pray that we are able to achieve it.
