Not quite. If you see the pictures and drawing below of the folded rivet, it forms an upside down cup. The ball bearing will make it into a flat omelette.

The much awaited brake lining replacement job has begun at last. I removed the right rear wheel brakes. Removal of the old lining was pretty easy. Just involved a drill machine and a punch to tap out the old rivets. Fitting the new linings requires a sold work bench so that I can get a decent hammer blow to fold over the new rivets. I have people living below my place so banging away will disturb them. Thus tomorrow, I'll be out looking for a friendly mechanic near my area who will allow me to use his work bench

New lining temporarily fitted to make sure all the pilot holes line up - Which they do perfectly.

I couldn't help posting a picture of my supervisor. She is my constant companion and overseas all my work. Has to to put her nose in everything!!

Went looking for a "friendly mechanic" today but being Friday not even one was open. So I enlisted the help of my son and proceeded to fit the linings. Pictures below show the outcome of the morning's endeavours.

This set is ready to go in. However, I still have the shock absorber of this side to work on. I guess I have my work cut out for me:)

Worked on the fourth and last shock absorber from the same side as the brakes (right rear). As expected the shaft seal is leaking. Will be working on replacing the seal over the next day or so just as I have done for the others.

Managed to complete the last shock absorber today. With the completion of this shock absorber all four shocks now stand completed. To be honest, I was getting quite tired and bored of doing the same work over and over again.

The next few days will be assigned to do yet another boring job. The replacement of the brakes linings of the remaining 3 wheels.

Abbasi Saheb I have 3 cats 1 russian persian, 1 turkish angora & 1 (12 weeks male ) persian inside the house as watchdog even if am in my daily morining ritual either of 3 sit outside the door. the other 2 DO GUARD DUTY with my mum & homemaker, The DoG in outer perimeter every time the bonnet or trunk lid is lifted he is on 2 legs and watch me with keen interest, only in morning he gives a damn because he know am leaving and he is not allowed to ride.

long time back My Bro-in-laws [ wife's cousin brothers ] detest me too much, what they spend to get a ceiling light & water pump fixed I do it in Rs. 20 by starter change & main breaker replacement for 350, i fix washing machines ceiling fans, service home aircons, replacing faulty breakers, finally stamping ' Kanglay saray kam khud kartay hain ' the very next week my home minister took a white unregistered SUV and gave them a great piece of her mind since long all is peace around,
