Went looking for a "friendly mechanic" today but being Friday not even one was open. So I enlisted the help of my son and proceeded to fit the linings. Pictures below show the outcome of the morning's endeavours.

One set of brake shoes done Three to go

This set is ready to go in. However, I still have the shock absorber of this side to work on. I guess I have my work cut out for me:)

In the interest of keeping the thread alive, another small update:

Brakes of the right side (front and rear) are done. I am a bit behind schedule. I was hoping that by this time all four wheels would have been done but family commitments ate up a lot of my time and now we are expecting house guests who will be staying with us until after Eid. Thus as long as they are with us, I will not be working on the car.

The house guests left after Eid. I as able to complete the brake job on the left front/rear wheels. When it came time to road test the car, the weather turned foul with rains most of the time and then I fell ill requiring hospitalization. So the road test of the car with its brand new brakes is still pending. Insha Allah as soon as I am up to it (perhaps after Aug 14th) I'll do a road test.

Faisal Sb. with the grace of Allah SWT, everyday I feel better. This morning I was able to walk from my bedroom to the kitchen. At this rate Insha Allah I'll be able to walk all the way to the garage :D.

While I have been lying down, I have been thinking about what next to do on my project car :S.
