Thanks, Faraz. Deals like this are made in heaven! I mean...what're the odds of one person desperately SEEKING a '65, encountering another person who's SELLING one? And that too, one in absolutely beautiful condition.
Yes. Overall, Ali's done a great job - and I do mean a top-class job - with the vehicle, but I suspect that he's been preoccupied with some other projects, too, which is why there are niggling little bits and pieces which need to be addressed.
The drive, for starters, could stand some improvement. The engine starts well and sounds good, but the throttle response isn't as smooth or sharp as I would personally like it to be. The brakes also seem a little spongy, although the suspension seems to be good. Conversely, I think there's a bit of rubbing of the front wheels with the wheel arches going on as well...nothing that seems to be insurmountably wrong, but something that needs redress, anyways.
The interior is very well done. Very tastefully put together, and spotlessly clean, and well refurbished. The dashboard fittings are all original, and are beautifully laid out.
Overall, it's a very VERY nice ride, indeed, and all credit must go to the young man who's put it all together. And I say this with a lot of respect; I'm rebirthing a similar machine (the '67) and I'll be mighty pleased if I can get it to be as good as this one.
