Some more progress on the "Under the Trim" spot on the right panel, where a lot of sanding has now resulted in showing some of the bare metal, but still there is a long way to go:

Beautiful! You need to concentrate on the main body shell. The fenders can just be sanded to remove rust and flaking paint, then polished and waxed to prevent further rusting. They would need to be attended to by a professional anyway so why work too hard in that area. Save your energies for another area.

P.S: A note to @nmshaikh: I used toothbrush to clean the inside cacked dirt on the trim, yes alright, but my toothbrush doesn't taste like kerosine, may be my spouse's does [/QUOTE]
I'll respond to that offline. I have to warn you and everyone else following this thread, married or thinking of getting married at some stage to not underestimate the woman power. You would probably be better off removing the lid,laying it flat on an old tire and reach under the lip with ease

It can be repaired but not for long. Try working with the screw on the back seen in the second picture. sometimes you can bring it back to life toggling it back and forth a half turn at a time and checking it as you do it. Opening it up should be the last resort. If at all you take it apart replace the insides with another German Hella you can find easily in Peshawar. Repairing the points is not a long term solution.besides this is a 6V unit so it won't last long when used on 12 V after repair.

you can check it at home. all you need is two wires with alligator clips. Make sure you choose a time when Abdul Hadi is awake.
