@reezvaan, lovely profile pictures. The time in detailing and effort in preserving as-is put by you is way more than what VW would have put while manufactring patina at her birth. I like your madness for patina, beetles are brilliant off-roaders, thats what I have read and learned from the people travelling across the borders on them, best of luck for the rally!

Its just that the love/care has been two folded due to the fact that the subject is a VW & that it is a coming of age present for my only son, Abdul Ha'adi, whom obviously I love more than anything.

screw customs - get a khapiya.. always did that and it worked. Technically speaking you should have got the shipper to declare the totals lower, and to send you the invoice directly and only put the packing list without prices in the box. There is also a loophole in Pakistan customs that is always thrown out to a corner that any new automotive use part is to be applied a duty based on the price of the origin of the part and not origin of the consignment. As the consignment can ship from any retailer across the world (All manufacturers use this hole all the time) - it was originally defined because Pakistan is a "developing country"

meaning if its a part made in china by "brandX" they are supposed to apply to duty to it by the original manufacturer part no. Its stupid to hear but its there - and its NEVER EVER done this way by PC. I hate these guys with a passion - they have confiscated one Haltech E6K ECU and one Motec M48 ECU of mine because I bought them used and they tried to play the "card I mentioned above" - as they would require that MoTEC Australia quote its actual price.. YEAH RIGHT... Its a God damned used part hazrat buzurg chew**a chaval of Customs.

Meet dealers in bilal ganj tell them your consignment number the will get it out with paying custom on per KG basis as "auto spare part in scrap" and choose shipment via sea not by air. a consignment of "Honda RoadMaster 200 classic" of mine (a complete engine) costed me 26k including every thing in the loop from Cyprus.

One really dont need to know all these details, just go and meet them (Awais, Faheem,khalid multiple scrap importer are there) tell you consignment and the can handle it from here now.

Collected the remaining two luggages from @shahzebulhaq today here at Islamabad, to complete the vintage Samsonite Circa Luggage set:

Will collect a few of the remaining parts on the wishlist tomorrow morning from @nmshaikh before I leave for Multan.

Some progress to share after quite a bit of effort. Had to sand off the Stubborn "Hitachi Pankhey" Sticker and then had to sand off the upper lip of the Deck Lid to bare metal to clear out the rust. Here are some pictures:

I'm a bit too late but I have a little tip here for removing old stubborn stickers, might be helpful in future.

Spray some alcohol based solution on the sticker and heat it a bit (domestic hair dryer can be used for heating), use a Putty Knife (Plastic preferred if it's on paint) gently scrap off the sticker while heating it, it will come off easily. I've done a many time on different surfaces and it worked everytime. Wax out the painted surface and the sticker was never there...
