there is a third holder that fits almost directly under the carb. you'll find a hole for that in the fan housing. I may have another one of these clips so that should complete the clip sequence.

re. the ceramic spark plug holders, we still have a few remaining..you are welcome to grab another one from the box.

Ofcourse I opened the carb in order to cleanse it thoroughly. And I did that with petrol/pressure air hose. Didn't use any chemical or carb cleaner or anything.

I am afraid there is no spot where we could procure a carb rebuild kit for 28PICT carb. I had requested for one to @nmshaikh to bring with him but I believe he didn't bring any 28PICT specification kit but I am not sure. May be he could clear it for both of us about which kits did he bring with him.

there are a few carb rebuild kits available and they cover the 28PICT too. you may find a lot of extra parts in the kit but basically everything to rebuild your carb. (and then some)

as we now see - working on vintage german steel is not "rocket science" that our desi ustaad mechanics tell us. They are really simple if you stop and think "how would it be logical to do it"

reezvan, I would make sure the *** items you buy are NOS items - most *** bearings I came across in Pakistan was chinese sourced (no thankyou I would rather ***** my eyes with needles) - I opted for French or Italian SKF instead.

Yeah I am sure that the replication of the Swamp cooler isn't going to be a big deal now since I have collected a lot of data through research/help which I personally believe is enough to get any of these replicated. The most crucial part was to get the exact measurements right on the Original Thermador piece, which thanks to my friend Jared, I have been able to source. I think in the end it would all be about the finish that we are able to pull through. Will surely share the details of the replication as it proceeds.

About F.A.G. Bearings, I will have to see. I would be heading to the dealership in a bit and if I would be getting any chinese origin bearings tagged as F.A.G. I shall pass and should look for SKF or even Timken or may be NAPA.

Rs 750 is about the right price, original SKF cost the same too, quite strange that prices have not changed in the last 3 years. btw they look like NOS items as the new boxes are somewhat cartoonishly bright while these ones look to be "all about metal and no pretty pretty"

If only we as a whole can get it out of our minds that cheap is not good - then for sure we would see improvements everywhere.

I dont get one understanding. e.g. a machine that makes money for someone uses said bearing. Cost Rs 750/item (downtime to replace is 4 hours), running life is 5000 hours. The owner of said machine would buy Rs 300/piece bearing and replace it after every 1000 hours facing 4 hours downtime each.

Thats backwards. Rs 300x5 = Rs 1500/- for the same 5000 hours and 20 hours downtime too. Sorry for the rant.

Time for installation of the NOS Original German Hubcap Rivets/Clips sent in by @nmshaikh a couple of months ago. But before that could be possible, its time to machine out a rivet mandrel out of the following solid metal piece that I picked up today from the iron market. The mandrel you see in above post was made out of a LINK PIN.

i'm in the process of doing the same thing, but i'm not getting the tool made as mumtaz has one at his workshop.
