2 door Corolla 74 mod, technical suggestions req

74 corolla is rear wheel drive.
If i want to fit in a 20V engine(fwd)/with power steering/AC in this car.....
what rear wheel drive gear box would be compatible?
what things do i have to keep in mind?
is it possible to get the rear drum brakes changed to discs.
Anyone/any idea how much money would be involved in the modifications? engine/tranny/dashboard/brakes????

First of all it wont be a waste of time....and secondly as i said a Corolla 82 5-Speed gear box would work fine but a Plate would have to be fabricated to mate the gear box with the engine.

P.s. The car I told you about in Lahore is not this shape, although its a 74 but the one here in lahore is the roundish one.

yaar y have changed the orignal dash with this 85 one and the rear lights,,,,u can fit a 20 valve in it with a oldseries 4age gearbox t50 i think which comes in ae86 levin bhai might know about it...

first of all, i would remove all lights and grills., and make a steel dash,, straight panels with grips to fit meters,,
secondly, open up the whole car passenger area.,, and design a 6 point roll cage inside. put two recardo seats with belt buckle.
redesign fuel tank,. install walbro 255 or maybe design two fuel pumps in it
take 2jz-gte with transmission and diffirencial,, and say bismilla ! start working on firewall cut/design /mount/engine alingment. replate rusted corners to strenghen bay. repaint job. foam ard engine bay firewall and top , like in deisel corolla you see.

then 4wd disc. suspension : frt suspension changed for weight of new engine. sway bars, etc.. open it and see when is good left in it. if nothing redo rear suspension,, needs to be hard and lowered for road grip

repaint car. put one brake light in rear centre..that's all. lol..this is just the summary of a plan for the car.. cost will be high to modify, cost is always higher than actual price of car

Well if you bought it I say Good buy but this is not a 74 Corolla it is 1975 Corolla SR Hardtop/SR5/ Levin/Trueno chassis code TE37. This SR5 version came with a 5speed manual tranny. You can fit anything you want but you would need a lot of fabrication if place anything else other then a 3k, 2T or 2TC or 2TG. But if I were you I would buy it just to restore it, this is one rear car.

4age16v with orginal rwd tranny and diff, is good choice.. plus you can always change internals at later stage

yeah 4A-GE 16V RWD is i prefered....engine was awsome designed as its a good choice for 74 Corolla with straight engines....4A-GE 20V engine longer in length and cause you to cut down the upper portion where brake lines are mounted and disributed...

They do not cut the firewall to fit engines like 20V or longer they take the radiator out and place it in front of the the chassis support and behind the bumper. They usually cut the bumper to fit Radiotor just like Intercooler.

Bhai when you do restoration lots of parts are fabricated and some found in junk yards or used parts markets. I have seen a guy restore SR5 to its mint condition in Karachi and he fabricated most of the parts.

I asked the guy to take off the CNG, CD player, VCD Screen, Alloys, tyres if new. After all that still he is asking 1.5 lacks for the car. I think thats to much for this car.
@Aridsoul i am couting on you to show me the corolla? Rates in rwp/isb are sky high few ask 2 lacks for 74 model corolla's here.
i am not going for restoration here. I will alter almost everything possible with modern things. 4 wheel discs/atleast a decent dashboard of corolla 86/88 and engine swap as mentioned.
