2 queries grande gear oil change and Fuel filter change need guidance

I have Grande 2017 facelift with 70k mileage. As per owners manual, its cvt oil needed to be changed at 55k while the fuel filter was due at 65k.
I am planning on replacing both.
I visited the dealership and they recommended the following for each item:
1) CVT OIL CHANGE
Dealership recommended that I change the transmission oil along with the transmission oil filter. For this they will open the chamber clean it, change the filter, drain the previous oil and add new one.
The estimate of they gave was around 25k including 6k in labour.

This was over my budget so I went to a local mechanic, he recommended to open the chamber, clean the filter with petrol and change the oil. Total cost around 10k

I would like your input on which option is better, the dealership is very expensive, but I do not want to ruin a 3.0 million rupee car in trying to save thousands. If the local mechanic option is OK what precautions do I need to take so he does not mess it up?

2) FUEL FILTER

The dealership recommended a change of entire fuel filter assembly with estimated bill for around 20k. Including 18k for parts and 2k for labour.

The local mechanic recommended to change only the filter within the assembly, which costs around 2k.

Is changing the filter instead of the assembly reliable? Or will it lead to problems in the long term?

I know its a long query, but I would be grateful if you can guide me on which route to take, as I am very confused.

Rs. 25k is way over priced, recently i changed the ATS fluid on my Corolla 1.6 2018 model myself, It consumed 4Liters of Toyota WS fluid which costed Rs. 4000 a pack and in process i also removed and cleaned ATS filter which is done with petrol as filter inside has metallic grill which gets easily cleaned with petrol and no point in changing it before 150,000 km. Only thing you need to look for is to adjust the fluid level at 35C and 45C, which is very important and rest is easy.

10k for changing ATS fluid (Toyota CVT) is also way too much, probably he is asking for roughly 5-6 thousand in labor. If its such a rewarding job then i wonder, i should leave my engineering and start working as mechanic. look for another mechanic, just ask him as how he would adjust the fluid level in transmission, if he knows as how to do it then negotiate for Labor. Also, buy the spare parts in Advance which includes Toyota CVT roughly 5 Liters, roughly 3 liters of petrol for cleaning filter and gaskit for transmission oil pan which should also be changed and then look for a mechanic who can do it right on reasonable 2-3 thousand labor.

1. you just need to change the filter, not the entire assembly. What does he means by entire assembly, because within the entire assembly also lies the fuel pump. Big No, trust me, dealership are a ripoff and technically the technicians working with them are not any better then road side technicians. In names of genuine product, genuine workmen ship, its a genuine ripoff.

There is a seperate thread for cvt oil change method, nd its involves some precision work. The dealerships also dnt follow the correct procedure, let alone the road side mechanics. Fuel filter u can inspect, if not dirty, then u can continue using it.

I just changed the fuel filter at 39,000 kms. It was 70 percent choked despite filling from the best pump in Islamabad.

Changed cvt oil also without opening pan at 38,000 kms because two years had passed.

Got done from local workshop.

1st: you don't need to open pan for cvt oil change at all. Not at this much mileage. At 200k kms it might be the case. Just go to dealership. Do not open pan at all costs. Ask them to open drain nut of cvt with inner filler tube. Measure the whole oil and pour in same amount. The oil that comes out by this method is 1.8-2.2L. Do the same at every 40000kms or 2 years whichever comes first.

2nd: Get fuel filter cleaned up. No need to change it. I have cleaned fuel filter of my car 3 times and odo of my 2016 1.8 cvti is 118k kms. Still using the factory one.

You might need to explain to him what is a fuel filter, most people assume the sock is the filter, while the actual filter is the white plastic cup around the pump.

That cup is good for 10 years

The dealership said that even if someone has changed cvt fluid as per schedule, they still take the pan out at 80k mileage or 2nd transmission oil change.

What if I simply change the transmission oil without opening the pan this time and change it again after 10-15,000 km later (as you suggested) and repeat the exercise 2 to 3 times?
Will it suffice?

No matter what any one says, its worth the effort opening the transmission oil pan, either cleaning the filter inside or changing it. I witnessed considerable amount of junk in filter once it was opened at 40k mileage on altis 1.6. after since i have changed the fluid and cleaned the filter inside, transmission on my vehicle is lot smother then before.

apart, cvt oil is very expensive roughly 4-5k for 4 liters can. so do it once, its not a difficult job, someone with knowledge can easily do it. find a reasonable mechanic who knows how to do it, especially ask him if he can adjust the fluid temperature at 35 and at 45C and if he knows then get it done from him.

5k wala chinese imported fake oil hai, better to get from dealership, isnt it a coincidence that when these online shopping stores popped up like seghal motors nd such, even oils like honda hmmf and tin pack dw1 also became a common commodity.

Kuch asay CVT oil change hota hai as per Toyota manual.

For fuel filter I prefer dealership method filter plus assembly. But its personal preference
