Dont do the test on idling engine only, you need to log the driving data to see a truly bad o2 sensor.

Sorry for the late reply, i just saw your message.

I still have the knocking sound on cold start. Irshad bhai said that Camshaft Timing Gear / VVTI drive sprocket needs to be replaced. He is been trying to source a new one as the previous 3 used ones didnt work. I am worried that something else is causing the VVTI drive Sprocket to fail for the 3rd time. I am not sure what that is..

The vvti actuator/drive sprocket is a wear item and has a finite life, all scrapyard ones are also at end of life.

You will need a new one from toyota, but you may not like its price.

He need to get it from Thailand as parts are on very affordable prices from Thailand.
Locals are importing them from Japan to UAE then to Karachi that end up pricy.
Toyota implement so many taxes that’s why become pricey even if they are importing from Thailand.
It’s better to source from Thailand through some local channel.

Toyota dont apply any taxes. Your govt does.

And be very careful ordering from unknown sources because after bosch, the next most counterfeit parts sold globally are toyota genuine parts,

I have made a point in my business that I will not install customer sourced genuine parts unless they can provide me a receipt of a dealership.

Just FYI for everybody, I did buy the new genuine cam sprocket for Altis 1.8 1zzfe for 35k from Plaza Karachi in december. 1ZR and 2ZR ones were available too. Sourced from toyota via a shop keeper. The previous one rattled randomly. New genuine chain tensioner and vvti filter, pcv valve were installed aswell:

quite bizzare that you got a paper wrapped timing gear that was made in Hungary, its quite an old part.

Yeah that was wax paper probably. I didnt expect it to be available but it somehow was. Btw the new gear came unlocked by default, easier to install.

The wax paper packing and hungary origin cam phaser is extremely old according to the dealership I asked, I was there picking up my order.

Maybe shared by another old engine? 1zzfe itself was nearly a decade old in 2010 already.

Car is already diagnosed by irshad Bhai but he's trying to find a good set of cam gear but it is not available rn, both needs to be replaced exhaust and intake ones,car is altis 1.6 2015 1zr

Any good mechanic in lahore because last time I got overall and believe me I hate my car now no driver pleasure no power no good fuel efficient even dies on kallar kahar climbing so either I want a guru person or a Musliman bunda who can sell original and good assembly don't care if it's bit expensive though.
