sir thank you for being kind to yourself paying attention to PakWheels'. Am sure you are bit convinced how things work with this class.

OEM Engine Kit (Seals and other stuff) is priced around 18K whereas the Chinese Kit is 3.5K. The chinese kits is generally used in most rebuilds (as per the parts dealer) but the mechanic is recommending OEM.

Recommendations please?

i'd suggest OEM parts., if you plan to keep car for personal use with peace of mind for trouble free run

Chinese stuff is used by rental vehicle rebuild since those vehicle are managed by paid drivers and minute engine maintenance work is done every 10-20000 kms

There are OEM parts, Japanese Parts that are Japanese, Japanese Parts that are made in Malaysia and Thailand. Then there are Chinese and the local ones. Chinese parts are sold as Japanese and there are different categories for the local parts. I forgot to mention Kabuli, used, yards parts etc.

How to ensure its genuine OEM not replica? Scan the barcode and verify the part number? Do all OEM parts have the barcodes?

They only sell original. I am getting parts from them from like 3 years now, even imported some parts through them. Everything was 100% original/genuine.

Thanks. I spoke to them, they dont have any parts that we needed. They would need to custom order it.

Bought few parts, still need to buy the following:
Timing Chain Kit Complete - 8,500 will buy tomorrow.
Oil Pan and Thermostat Valve - 2,500
Catalytic Convertor (Chinese) - 12,500 Even Kabuli are used Chinese.

Engine Seals Kit - I was quoted 18,000 for this yesterday and for some reason when we went to get it, the price jumped to 28,500 for OEM. The mechanic said that we can use the OEM head gasket and the rest Japanese. The cost will come down to 12,000. This would require running around to different shops to get the complete set.

Fuel Pump. Still checking if this needs to be replaced. I hope not.

I would appreciate any comments that you might have.

Which Engine oil would you all recommend during the first 1000 KM? We bought 10W-30 and after 1000 will switch to 5W-30.

any grade oil at start up will be fine, 1st change after 1000 kms shall be 5W-30 or 10W-30.

parts pricing is a high variable. there are few auto parts dealer who throw buyer in spin and sell C grade item. Only an seasoned mechanic or the machine shop guy twist their arms for crackling sound. That is why we at PW always recommend to do parts shopping along with mechanic to know if the monies are used wisely.

at Plaza Karachi you can roam around haggle & irritate seller with all questions of oem, japanese, malaysia china class, at Al Nasir Motors over main M A Jinnah road next to Puri Glass shop., Malik Autos (aamir malik) opposite preedy police station shops, Al-Furqan Motors at ground floor of Tibet Centre & across that Japan Autos. All these guys are '2nd generation auto parts importers / sellers' their suggestion is worth consideration.

how switching to 5w30 aggravated the issue.

sir if you look at shared pictures the oil pickup strainer has some debris which may be wood shaving, mixed in 20W-50 oil to keep engine silent. after the correct oil grade change by member every whining and rattling become audible.

So the thumb rule in our society is mask the problem with thick oil and pass it on to new unsuspecting buyer.

Yes most of the parts are available on order only. I have imported tons of parts through them, but have to wait for a month.

was testing the AC
the young lad said AC is fine but the heater doesnt work (which i would never have checked or thought about)
while there are cheats and frauds everywhere
honest and nice people also exist
lesser in numbers though
