I suggest buying OEM engine seals. Most oil leak problems occur due to substandard seals. But do make sure that the seals are original by researching about conuterfeit products.

The engine is the heart of a car. When given the option, I would go for the best quality seals that will last a long time as it will be best for the engine.

I am also enclining towards the OEM. Will go buy tomorrow Insha Allah. The engine will be back in morning from the machine shop. Will start putting the engine together tomorrow.

You are right.
One of the funniest dishonest reply from an owner who was selling was that the car engine has been changed a month ago that is a good point for the car, and I know it because I'm an aeronautical engineer.
I would have believed him due to his credentials if I hadn't read in Pakwheels about the risk of an engine change. Most changed kabli engines die after a few months or a few years at least. He was talking as if he had installed a brand new water dropping engine.

Another funny crap was from a dealer. I asked him why was the car not in his name. He said I am big real estate businessman and own many cars. I don't have time to register all of them.

He had advertised his home address hiding his true nature. Upon enquiring from a local shop we learned he was a car dealer.

Okay good choice the rings should be of TP brand.
And do search for the oil pump plate assembly (brand new ) if you have plans to use 5w30 in future as the oil plate is full of gunk and sludge.
Also ask the mechanic to use brand new head valves of Fuji brand along with std valve guides.

Also see the wear in tappet cups if they are worn from side ways try to buy brand new tappet cups each will cost you 850 for japees one and 450 for Chinese one both works perfect it's recommended to keep the engine more quite at higher rpms and idle speeds.

Now comes toward the crank shaft.
The bigons are 0.25 so make sure you have good polished crank shaft after the milling work is done it should look like a glass like surface other wise the crank bearings will be scratched in first start up

Also ask the mechanic to tell the milling guy to balance the crank shaft and connector rods after grinding.

One important thing in 2nz rebuild is piston weight balancing.
It's done by weighing the each piston and see and note for any misbalance . If found misbalance grind a little bit off the pistons to balance them.

That's how it's done.

Honing is done after the cylinder booring and the milling guy will perform it don't perform grapes type honing in this engine

Malik Engineerig is doing the machine shop work, what i have learned that they do good quality work.
OIl plate Assembly sourced.
had to go with New ART (Japanese) 0.50 as Fuji is only available in original OEM size. Please check the pictures above.
Tappet cups are checked and these are good. Machine shop guy also checked it and said not to change it, leave the original in there. They are doing the adjustment.
Checked the biggons, work is complete on these, Shaft surface is like glass.
I have also discussed with mechanic and the machine shop to balance the crank shaft and piston weight balancing.
I will take some pictures later today and will share it.

Am sure malik saheb have done cross hatch & suggested to your mechanic about replacement or adjustment of the valves lifters clearance. (also known as dabbo)

Good job Fuji pistons are not available ART Japan is the stock supplier of Toyota most of the pistons are provided by ART japan

I am sharing my experience of the engine overhaul.
All parts sourced, engine is being assembled, tomorrow is a big day. Insha Allah we will start the engine. I will share the video of engine startup. I will also share the workshop name, line item cost after I am satisfied with their work.

sir you are very lucky to have such a mechanic, is he doing overhaul job at your home or dedicated private place?

the speed with which ustad ji is working is not practiced in karachi. the machine shop turn around time for the block and head is also very unusual.

I must say the torque wrench used is something different i have seen.

if he is doing the job at their own workshop you are lucky that rainy season provided idle time, no routine short job cash customer stop over which always take priority. That causes delay divert the attention & time needed for big tasks.

upon job completion we all look forward to vehicle on road performance and your findings for the workshop, that will help many of us to know another place (Good or Bad) in Karachi.
hope you will share a cost break up for parts and labor at convenience as well.

The work is done at the workshop. The other mechanic is working on other cars but the main Ustaad is working exclusively on my car.

I was worried about over or under torquing but was relieved to see the torque ranch being used.

He explains in great detail how he install pistons, rings and puts the whole engine together. While working he found few other things such as Catalytic was bad, engine mount was broken, thermostat valve and crank timing gear required replacement, he sourced these used at a good price.

@sardarg i can safely assume by the picture it is a HAZET product, the brand name has legacy it is a german product means that the mechanic knows the importance of tools. Have seen very few shops with such standard of tooling.

The mechanic while cleaning the catalytic, removed the sensor cleaned it and put it back.
Did he do something wrong? he didnt grind nor used any chemicals.
