now you are confusing the peak hp/torque values with the whole torque curve that can definitely be improved with better tuning and what not. As I said, those peak figures have hardly an impact on the daily usage of the car. And it is not a valid argument that "Honda doesnt have 1.3 city anywhere". They have 1.2 litre cars in other markets but they are labeled different, some hatchbacks and some sedans.

Ofc they will save weight. They'll strip everything out, atals has never taken out features to increase profits, they have done it to save weight to pass on the fuel savings to the customer

Oh yes I remember, using thinner metal sheets, no armrests, no airbags, lighter glass, lighter cheaper plastics. Might be a good 200-300kg less.

Before I forget, lets send a Pakistan assembled City, Corolla, Yaris, Civic to NCAP UK for crash test, and compare safety against EU equivalent models of the same cars.

If any engine can be tuned to any performance, lets put 660cc in civic, corolla, camry, accord, Rolls Royce. Infact why stop at 660cc, lets put 49cc lawn mower engines in all cars.

Tuning can do wonders, but it is always a compromise, adding a gearbox focused on low-end torque will reduce top-speed and high speed acceleration. If all is maximized, the useful life of the engine will decrease. I hope Honda is not tuning for that

Yup so everything is post 3k rpm so not for casual city driving, more tuned for the higher range

So combining this with Jazz figures earlier, the Toyota 1.3 is at almost 25kW (33hp) and about 110 nm torque. Whereas Jazz at 2000 rpm is 25hp and 101 nm torque.

Thats a significant difference.

Yes. So my opinion is keeping that 1.3, and use it with CVT. Will be better for Honda. And in future when (if) our petrol gets better, they can bring the 1.0 turbo which is excellent engine.

Overall I like the Ciaz's set-up more than Yaris and City. Amazing system designed for economy. I am sad that it has been discontinued.

Since yaris 1.3 is a bit heavier and if we analyze those torque curves, 1nr-fe is already outputting more torque on same low end rpm which means it is consuming more fuel. An engine doesnt produce torque out of the thin air, it needs fuel and oxygen to do so. And are you sure that is the torque curve for 10.5 CR 1NR-FE? Because I have checked the source from where you got this figure, over there it says 11.5 CR and that one needs RON 95

That torque curve is not of the 1.3 engine available in pkdm yaris

Its the curve for 1nr-fe , it was hard to find. Ofcourse the torque will be a bit lower (around 3%) for the 10.5 cr.

The link lists kerb weights for both Yaris hatchback and Yaris Sedan. And weight difference is not as much as the weight you are giving to it. Infact, ok, lets use these: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Vios#XP150. Similar numbers as the other link.

Yes but to move the similarly weighing City, you will need to push hard on the accelerator, or the CVT will be tuned for low torque (low ratio) and RPMs will go higher quicker. Either case it should be more fuel consumption than other smaller cars this engine is used in.

Again the difference should not be as much as you are making it look. Its not like that those 33hp will jump down to 25hp to meet your argument's need.
