That's just simply exaggeration. 3.5 million is very close to Civic. Regardless of what you think, Honda Atlas are not idiots. This car will be priced at around 3 million at launch. In fact, pricing it exactly the same as Yaris will be a stroke of genius.

The official Indian testing numbers are lower than the 1.5 city's. Shows that 1.2 is underpowered and will give lower fuel economy than 1.5 as a result.

Its still very good considering , 16 and 20 without ac , 14.5 and 18 with ac.Pretty good numbers.

Plus more leg room at the rear than yaris. It seems a bit sluggish at lower rpms but pretty good when rpms go up.Ofcourse there will be a little bit compromise but those who want some performance will need to spend a little bit more.

I have watched like ten reviews of jazz 1.2 and everyone gave around the same economy numbers.

3.5 is far off from Yaris. Don't think they would do that. Secondly, it crosses off Altis 1.6 which again is not something they would do. Suicide is what it would be!

Btw if City reaches into Altis territory it would be knocked out with the launch of 12th Gen 1.6 Altis in 12 months time considering it would be an upgrade from the current set of features!

Civic x feels sluggish due to its CVT specially in stop and go traffic.
The throttle response improves with good fuel.

It’s just the throttle response, it’s actually not slow at all, it’s faster than 8th and 9th gen civic.

If you are planning to buy City, better go with 1.5. With that engine, it's the fastest sedan in this segment.

It's better to buy Proton Saga instead of this 1.2 city because with those specs, I don't consider it as a B-Segment sedan. Protno Saga has better hp, torque and power to weight ratio. Saga's weight is 1055 kg for manual variant which makes it 64.4 watt/kg. 0-100 of manual is 12.1 sec and auto is 13.1 sec. The only thing you need to bear is old style interior, which is not a dealbreaker for me for the price they are selling.

Just to give you some insight about power to weight ratios of different vehicles that I calculated during my research for buying a new vehicle. All numbers are in watt per kg.

Honda City 1.5l CVT - 75.5
Alsvin 1.5 DCT - 72
Toyota Yaris 1.5l CVT - 71.2
Alsvin 1.37 MT - 70.48

A-Segment
Proton Saga MT - 64.4
Cultus - 62.9
Wagon R VXR - 60.6
Alto VXL - 43.3

Alsvin has better power to weight ratio than Yaris for both 1.3 and 1.5 variants. Upcoming City 1.5 is the fastest.
