City is getting more features every day , a couple more features and yaris will have a hard time selling.

Their only advantage will then be quick delivery times.

Agreed. That's why these will be easiest additions for Indus Motors. They may even introduce these before the full fledged facelift (with newer lights and bumpers).

Yes even though the city will be a gen old it will be new enough for local buyers plus it won't have the smiling villain look of the yaris

Sir, Its not that simple...

This assumption that Yaris sales were solely driven by quick deliveries isn't correct.

City has its own market & Toyota has its own... No doubt the feature list will eat up some sales but the overall market impact won't be significant...let alone Toyota having a hard time selling Yaris in the longer run ...Unless Honda comes up with a really aggressive pricing strategy (quite unlikely).

Honda has never been able to compete with Toyota in Pakistani market even with City & Civic sales combined...

Honda City has always been limited to select urban markets in Pakistan and that trend will continue,,,

This sudden surge in sales is due to the new model.. within a year the regular pattern will be restored...

Yes because Toyotas are historically better made build wise, less problems, very reliable and low on maintenance.

Yes ofcourse, Toyota is associated with reliability all over the world.

But these NA Hondas are also built quite reliable. Reliability was also not a problem with generation 5 City. If Atlas builds it well, the new City should be very reliable too. Otherwise choon choon thak thak random issues like Civic.

Keep it under 3.1 million (with recent reduction in FED) with these features then it will be an interesting competition.

Honda,s r very reliable cars.But in Pakistan it's all Atlas,s fault.They simply fail to give us the quality we expect from them.

Agreed. City's features are quite good. Let's hope they don't give us the cheap Civic X like build quality.

Toyota will have to step up their game as well. Which shouldn't be much of an issue for them because they did leave room for Cruise Control, Paddle Shifters and Rear AC Vents.

This segment is finally becoming interesting. Even though I am enjoying my new ATIV X (received it last Friday from dealership) a lot more then I enjoyed my previous Honda City's (owned 3 of them in the past) but you still miss the features like Retractable Mirrors and Telescopic Steering.

Honda is finally raising the bar.

corolla has a cult following and yaris is not a corolla , it has great features but its no corolla. City has been here for a long long time and yaris relatively is new , it captured the market only because people were fed up of 12 years old city. Now the newer city is here , we will see how things change in the coming months.

Yaris has also built a reputation as a worthy replacement of XLi and GLi, and it is Atlas's fault. Kept the decades old City going, letting Yaris run unopposed. Now, Atlas brings an old City.

Fanboys will buy City or Yaris (depends on which side they are on). For most buyers, the equation will be balance of features and price, and on top of that, Yaris's reputation that it has built with no competition. And if in doubt, Toyota can give a facelift.

So City sweeping the market is unrealistic. City getting decent sales is a reasonable expectation.

My opinion: Unless Honda gives a really great price (which is unexpected), Yaris will still lead the sales in this segment, with City being second. Close second or by a large margin will be determined by the price.

Indus has given facelifts on Corolla frequently, and if there is a need, Yaris will get a facelift most probably.

Price will definitely be a big factor which i failed to mention in my post , if the price of both cars are comparable then IMO we will see a big dent in Yaris sales. But the dent in sales will be mostly in top varient , i do not expect city 1.2 to sell well and If i am not wrong ativ x is top selling varient of the car.

Aspire and ativ x will be fighting tooth and nail.

Hopefully we see a healthy competition in prices as well. If city is priced too high then ofcourse yaris will enjoy its dominance in the segment.

Even though I am happy with the features City is getting but my concern still remains the same. Altas will once again be getting away with their disgusting practices as a company. People everywhere (mostly here on PakWheels who call themselves"auto enthusiasts" ) complain about Auto Manufacturer's and how they are ripping their customers apart but still people are going with it and in some cases defending them. It's like we have no self respect at all.

They are literally slapping their customer's on the face and they are happy with it.
