I anticipate this trend going forward. Mainly because our market has shown acceptance to old models. Examples are blind pre-booking of City, Corolla being sold in huge numbers despite new model launched almost 2 years ago, Elantra, Picanto, Sorento.

I think this is now going to be a trend, keep us 1 generation behind. As soon as a generation gets obsolete, bring plant and kits at a very low price, and keep going. I am waiting for 13th generation Corolla and 12th generation Civic, because this is when I expect 12th generation Civic and 11th generation Civic to come here.

Oh, and I fear we might be seeing the current Yaris and GM6 City for the next 10-15 years.

THe car has start stop feature. That feature makes sense only in hybrid cars, in regular ICE cars the small 12v battery will be drained in a few minutes. Maybe thats why they are using some different battery so it can do the start stop better than the regular one.
But if thats the case and it needs a special battery, most of the 12v batteries dry cell or not dnt last more than 180 days in good climate. Lets see how much the luminere special battery last. if you gotta change it every 1.5 years, lol thats a big cost and well a lot of people might be asking the dealershop to turn that off altogether.

no idea. I read an article in a car mag, there was a small para on it which said something along that this was developed for hybrids. and was an upsell feature. Later was introduced in some ICE cars and were having issues.
I think that the start stop feature will put a heavy drain on simple 12v battery so there must be something to cover that if there is no hybrid system.

I raised this question in Alsvin forum but most were of the opinion that "blue core" engine is the best engine in the world and it cant put a single foot wrong so no further discussions took place.

I dont think that start stop feature has much effect on battery perfermance or life , been using that feature in JDM move for good six years and I have normal dry battery.

Alsvin does seem to be getting an unprecedented amount of fanboyism, especially from people who literally don't seem to know anything about what they are talking about. Yaris and city fanboyism makes some sense at least due to proven japanese brands, and even proton fanboyism makes some sense due to the lower segment price. I thought that alsvin would be the perfect failure car locally, amazing to see how much love it is getting for basically no reason at all. It has literally nothing going for it, the bluecore name must be doing some real jadoo on some feeble minded people.

Which dry batteries you usually use and how long do they last?

daewoo. They last for good 2 years.

Start/stop might be a bit easier on the battery on 660ccs.

Problem is lack of options in the category , and alsvin is best looking of them at least (i know looks are subjective). Economy figures are good too and engine performance so far has been good. Gear change is seamless.Suspension stiffness is somewhere between yariss and citys stiffness.

The extreme fanboyism dont make sense but the car isnt as terrible as people make it sound here. Only time will tell how suspensions , transmission and engine hold up.

Negatives are poor paint finish , poor finishing of sunroof area from top , fuel lid problem and quality of interior material(not fit and finish). The seats are actually comfortable. Ac is as good as it gets.

Final verdict will be after a couple of years , its a mixed bag at the moment.

Start stop dont have much effect on battery's life.

ofcourse a good quality battery is needed.

does the start stop also stop the accessories or the accessories keep running while the car is switched off? cuz my understanding is that start stop is when the blower fan and the other accessories keep working and that is where the load comes onto the battery

In Japanese, ECO Idle or this start and stop has separate battery, normally installed under front passenger seat. Its all the electronics keep on running at stop when Engine turn off. Regarding AC, only Blower works not compressor..

But trust me its the most irritating feature any car can have, specially in rush hours and in stop and go traffic. Every sec your car keep starting up, unlike hybrids, Eco idle cars starts after a proper Self.... I have in in my PASSO MODA and also it was there in my ENE CHARGED ALTO, but normally it turn it off while driving.

yes , you can always turn it off because the fuel savings are minimal.
