GOV has reduced some taxes on CKD kits. I think 7% to 2%. So this should also impact the price, if these manaufacturers pass on some benefits to consumers.

So the quoted range of 26-31 for city will likely be 24.5-29.5..

Honda has not quoted the 26-31 price, so technically you can't simply minus 150k and say that's the price. Master Stroke as usual by Honda. Rest of the companies have to reduce (at least for this July) as their existing prices are known.
Honda may also keep lower prices because of competition but they are free to set any sticker price they want.

If this happens it will only apply for future CKD kits imports. Lets say they have already imported kits at 7% to cover deliveries till Dec 2021, so new tax will apply only after that. Too ambiguous....

Companies does not operate like this...

If its is reduced and they plan intend to transfer any benefit to consumer then they will, irrespective of what they have in stock. If not, then these companies will increase their profits.

As far as City price is concern, definitely Honda has a bench mark price of Yaris, as both cars will compete. So they can't keep their price 200K higher than Yaris.

May be 50K to 100K higher price might be possible (personally which i think is not justified) but not more that that..

No matter how ugly looking Yaris is (my personal perspective :)) but if there is a 200K difference between both cars, Honda will loose city market in long run... no matter how many pre-booking they already have got, but i am sure their marketing research will not be that poor.

As per reports;

"Additional Customs Duty (ACD) on all vehicles is reduced from 7% to 2% on CKD units. Meanwhile, the ACD for 1000cc will be 0%"

Yes, ONLY if they are willing to reduce their profit. They already paid 7% ACD for something, then they won't get back their 5% if they charge the customer only 2%

Technically they can file a rebate or apply for adjustment against future deductions. Companies haven't been paying ACD and a court case is going on ... this is what Khusro Bakhtiar Sb said in press conference that the Big 3 have agreed to pay the Outstanding ACD balance at 7% and in future deduction would be done at 2%.

However as rebates are very difficult to get, I don't think that the auto manufacturers will extend the ACD benefits any time soon...Big three have rather suggested an increase in current prices citing increased freight charges, chip costs and dollar rates as per a news article published today in Dawn.

That's what I have been saying multiple times. Some yaris lovers really want it to be a lot more expensive than the yaris for whatever reason.

12 years of Honda city is enough for someone with common sense.
You can't call it a strategy. Give me one example of where you saw something like this so called STRATEGY

12 years, and still city was one of the highest selling car for all these years.
Xli was a work horse without any feature and use to be expensive than city and still it use to sell more. Even better sales than GLI. This was our country market dynamics.

Mehran used to be same since 1989 to 2019 (i suppose), one of best seller of suzuki, because there was no compitetion in its category expect for few years of coure.

When there is no competition and no policy making, then these kind of things intend to happen.

Even if your are businessman, and ur product is selling without competition, u will fell for profit, unless u have to compete with ur equals.

Now there is some competition in market, gov is considering to export Pakistani made cars in global market.. so things will change.

Very true, everyone would take advantage of the situation to get as much profit as possible. Honda Atlas is to blame but Government has been equally rresponsible and unprofessional with relation to automobile industry which is a very big industry worldwide.

Still does not mean don't show car, don't show price, lock up people's money for 6 months and get away with it. People are to blame as much as the companies. There are certain life principles that should never be violated. I guess I was taught differently and I am unable to convey that self respect and dignity matters more.

Yes, but none of these practices were justifiable. XLi/GLi had a shouting underpowered engine, XLi had no ABS in almost 1300kg car. City was barebone, outdated and facelifts were only price-lifts. And now maybe they ran out of combinations of shark-fin and front grille, and finally we are getting a new old City.

Whether our economy or our systems allowed such practices, companies should not be excused. They could have been the better guys.
And Atlas is still doing it. Except Atlas, ALL other companies in Big 4 (including Kia) are offering test-drives, and no one else took pre-bookings.

If companies can do whatever they want because the system allow it, we can say whatever we want because probably some of us are not going to tolerate this.
