I'd rather deal with the time rather than pay premium. Also I'd like to be able to buy a new car directly from the company.
Cnic didn't change much yet. The investors got loads of people willing to allow to book cars on their cnic. Plus dealers get many open invoice cars themselves. Dealers are the biggest problem makers, first target of government should be to make things as difficult for dealerships as possible. Unfortunately all dealership owners are rich and powerful people with ties with the government. No car leaving without booking would be amazing, but still the auto makers would find a loophole to please the dealers.
Unfortunately government can't really in good spirit force automakers to increase production. And Indus are no saints by any means, they only increased Yaris production to get as many sales as possible as the competition was slow and it was the best moment for Indus to get as much sales before they start getting some real competition. If Indus actually wanted to do some good, corollas, fortuners and hiluxes would have fast delivery too.
The only effective solution I see is opening car imports and bringing down the taxes on them significantly. It won't only help curb the own mafia, it will also help the used car market in which cars somehow appreciate rather than depreciate.
New entrants haven't helped the situation one bit as they were partnered with greedy af local companies. The new entrants have been so bad that the big 3 are still the default choice for most, like just imagine being worse than Indus, atlas and PS, even with the novelty factor they have. Like seriously all the new entrants have equivalent or worse pricing for a well known less reliable brand with less parts availability, equivalent or longer delivery times and the same horrid build quality as the big 3. Just take a look at alsvin, a car that is supposed to be much cheaper than city and yaris, and is also getting huge tax benefits from the government, yet it still manages to be priced very close to city and yaris. The price difference should've actually been more than Saudi Arabia between alsvin and city/Yaris. Absolutely embarrassing. And their delivery times are long too. Pretty obvious that Changan isn't really interested to do proper business here.
So yeah as our local businessmen Saiths aren't really interested to do proper business, new entrant tax relief should be stopped and imports opened with tax relief for them.
