True, Gli is completely different to a 1.6 i.e. extremely sluggish and the engine sound it makes on acceleration is not nice at all. 1.6 comparatively is much much better even with a 4 speed auto. A regular torque converter is better than a cvt any given time atleast for me.

nope i was in that 17 model civic in 2018. Remembered the sluggishness and my city feeling faster from that time. Plus its very rare for engines to lose hp in just 4 years, but then in pak we do have 20w50 oil and leppon filter using people destroying their engines fast. Friend's car was honda maintained and 25k driven at that time though, so should not have any issues.

Saw the City 1.5 prosmatec at Honda Avenue. Being a yaris 1.5 user here are my two cents:

1. Back space is much more than yaris.
2. Trunk space of yaris felt bigger
3. General finishing is good.
4. The soft touch on doors, centre console, side consoles and the leatherite finish feels much better than what yaris has to offer.
5. Lcd is way ahead of yaris.
6. Automatic gear box looks hideous in city.
7. Steering controls of Yaris are much better.
8. Imid and speedometer of yaris is miles ahead and better.
9. Front is very nice. Much better than yaris. Front head lamps as well.
10. Side profile of yaris is better imo.
11. Back lights of yaris are better than this age old crap in city.
12. Shark fin antenna. Tried to steal it to put it on yaris. Didnt come off.

City have the biggest trunk space among all available sedans of Pakistan, and you finding Yaris trunk bigger than City? Strange

City trunk is 510L and Yaris trunk is 475L

Worst thing is paddle shifters on CVT, that too with fake shifts. That is the height of useless gimmick. Instead of pedal shifters there should have been more useful stuff like parking sensors, better rear camera, auto headlights etc.

Fake shifts and pedal shifters to make the user feel better, no real use.

Yaris prices most probably go up

it will still sell like it did before tax cuts. There is not much mainstream competition in this segment especially after the pricing blunder by honda. And tbh, anything with toyota label on it sells. Now next big thing is new swift by suzuki, although it is a different segment car but still on engine and features grounds, it can have some competition with upper segment cars. Let see how PS deals with that. Honda also gave them a big pricing cushion to play in i.e. 21-27 lakhs

Well CVTs are cheaper to manufacture, plus Toyota CVT has real first gear (correct me if wrong), so it should not be total rubber band.

the fake shifts feel worse than the rubberband effect to me. plus it isn't like the typical buyer would even notice the rubberband effect. i see absolutely no reason for the existence of fake shifting cvts.

I don't know why they even try to give a sporty spin to a box. Let corolla be good at what it is extremely good at, and after updated suspension in the 2019 facelift the drive has gotten better a lot as well. Its excellent package as is, doesn't need any sporty gimmick like fake shifts or black interior with red stitching. If they want to give some fun, they should bring some features from the XSE line, with real sporty stuff.

For driving pleasure, Civic Turbo is the only option, but it's so expensive, and buying a second car for family is not possible for most. Civic turbo prices also do not make sense.

That Toyota's first physical gear on CVT is only on the 2L engines on Corolla and Corolla hatch. It's not a standard transmission. It's only available for 2L engines , which has 169HP.
