Anyone who owns an etron most likely has other petrol cars in their household as well. Outer city travel is also very rare for most people. Electric cars for most people are advantageous enough for inner city travel.
Plus even though our electricity production is quite pollutant, overall it is still more environmentally efficient to have electric cars as electric powerplants, electrical charging and electric motors all with their inefficiencies combined are still more efficient overall than the usual petrol engines which barely are 20-25% efficient in terms of the actual energy available in a unit of fuel. Plus efficient sources of electricity production are being added a lot in pak, increasing the overall efficiency in the long term.
I really hope the local monopoly of cars finally goes on to make hybrids at least. As our local companies love outdated tech that has gotten cheap over time, and hybrids are getting outdated now, might be possible. Plus there are the tax benefits to be had as well.
