Interesting. 7th gen CIty is currently on sale/booking in only 3 countries; Thailand, India and Malaysia. All three countries have Right Hand Drive cars.

So if its not in Pakistan, where is this LHD unit from?

Why Middle East? No previous generation of City has been sold in ME, not in my knowledge at least.

Sir , City the GM6 as we are expecting is for sale in Saudi, UAE, Qatar , Kuwait , Oman as LHD. Prices are available. In saudia it starts at 51K SAR, UAE for 49K AED.

I believe, Atlas need a major factory line overhaul and they cant price it against competitors.

This is the same reason Indus has yet to release the 12th generation Corolla. When platforms change, it's not a plug n play switch, they need a lot of work on ground which obviously need time as well as $$$$..

Now that's the other story why they [ Atlas / Indus ] dont want to do it. Why they don't want to invest into newer platform/ generation after making billions in profits, only they can answer.

On a related note, 7th gen City actually costs less than 6th gen in Thailand. To be exact, entry-level S trim costs 579,000 baht (10k less), V 609,000 baht (40k less) and SV 665,000 baht (71k less). But, this is mainly due to use of 1.0l engine attracting lower taxes.

Model cost less but that does not mean the assembly line will cost nothing on upgrade. Honda Thailand is major export hub.. they have resources and also keep in mind, Honda Thailand operation is fully owned and operated by HONDA and also a R&D location . In contrast Atlas is just assembling kits with written recipes.. no transfer of technology which is typical with all PKDM.

As of Thailand, yes the 1L engine could have resulted in lowering the prices.

correction - MADE IN XXX can not be punched in any automobile in ASEAN country unless 75% localization is not achieved

88% of Honda vehicles
90% of Toyota vehicles
95% of Suzuki vehicles

are MADE IN Pakistan.

Transmissions complete & Some engine parts are imported for the vehicles rest of components are all local. Cat converters are also manufactured in Pakistan, but available only through local 3S shops.

Vendors are contract bound and CAN NOT sell such items in open market.

So, next time you go in the seminar.. do ask how they price their vehicle everytime there is rise in dollar while there is no decrease where there is fall in the dollar because everytime the notion is depreciation in dollar. 88% localization is not even achieved by Toyota and Honda in US or Europe where they have much bigger facilities and infrastructure.

What I am told , localization is not reached to the percentages you just mentioned. I would like to the see the model wise itemized list.. what parts they make locally.

As of Made in Pakistan tag.. I hope they follow the required percentage of localization.

funny thing you will laugh at too is.

90% of our industries are based upon IMPORTED RAW MATERIAL, So any disparity to currency reflect upon the finish products. Because every vendor has to provide Sales tax input adjustment the buyer.
