Its about driving habits, for smaller engine we push the more, generally use higher rpms, for larger engines theres more power so we are comfortable with less rpms.

my understanding is that for normal family cars, 1.6 liter engine is a sweet spot for decent power and fuel efficiency.

Yes true. Civic gives me around 15 plus on Islamabad Lahore round trip including city drive. RPM also at 2 if at 120km/h.

Yeah, it is a little surprising for me too but more surprising for me is the RPM at 120 for 1.2 CVT I thought it would be greater than 3000 as in Yaris GLi it was closer to 3000 but you said it is around 2400.
I think 1.5 shines when power is required from the engine. Went to Babusar top in my city and it didn't struggle one bit with 5 adults on board while the 2016 GLi in front of me was struggling

Passo 2017 at 120km/h has its RPM at 3. It's will luggage, 2 adults and 3 kids onboard.

I guess CVT does pretty well keeping engine at lower RPM, even if a smaller engine

For my Passo, it is around 3500.

Off-topic but what average are you getting with your Passo?

Within City with AC, around 12~12.5km/l. On Long normally it does around 15.5km/l. both average are calculated manually tank to tank.

Yaris GLi it was closer to 3000 but you said it is around 2400.

I have an Ativ 1.5..

RPM at 120kmph sustained speed on Motorway in D mode is 2K (actually just below 2K)..

At 140 kmph steady speed its around 2.5K...

I am quite impressed by the low RPMs at such high speeds..

Fuel average with AC always on..

The max that I have got is 20.1 km/L but for that the speed needs to be between 80 & 100 kmph.. Eco mode....

At 100-110 kmph it gives around 15- 16 km/L (D Mode)

At 120 kmph it gives around 14~15km/L (D Mode)

At 140 kmph+ it gives 12 - 13 kmph (D Mode)

In City driving with AC and heavy traffic its gives 11-13 km/L (Eco Mode) on D it falls by a km.

As per my experience speed is capped at:
120 kmph for Eco Mode
160 kmph for D Mode
170 kmph for S Mode

hello buddy... got my hands on City 2021 today and you were the first person who came to my mind buddy as a Honda Expert....
please share views on the tyre size and ride height of the car....

• what in your opinion made Honda rise the car to the height of ugliness? car we install aftermarket air-suspension system to lower it to a normal height.
• if i replace the tyres with any standard tyres size like 195/65/15 will they work?
• The car feels very unstable, will bigger tyre size help? can aftermarket VSC be installed?
• The cabin is not silent, outside world noises and occasional plastic squeaks are ruining the driving pleasure, do you suggest sound dampening, if yes, where can we get it done from in Islamabad or Lahore
• Rear Lights are very ugly and outdated, look like smoked red tape... is it possible to replace them with grace led lamps
• No tip-tronic?? is it still 1986???

Don't think there's a speed cap. Seen a few idiots taking it above 180+ on youtube.

Yes Sir, I have seen those too... I think they fiddled with the ECU settings... there is a WhatsApp group of Yaris owners.. multiple people have confirmed there that it doesn't go beyond 170.

I personally don't think that anything above 140 max is safe. Even that is not recommended..

Actually the lesser width makes it look higher than it actually is... on top the 175 tyres make the overall look odd from back side... front still looks quite good.

I wouldn't go beyond 185..it will adversely affect fuel efficiency.

Good quality imported tyres will make the grip better...

Seriously boss.... impossible.... missing out on VSA as Honda calls it is a blunder ...they offered TC&VSA in Thialand & India.

sound dampening,

Can be done from all major cities... but first check if any rubber seals are missing between the engine bay and cabin.. Sound proofing is better than 5th gen as per initial feedback from owners...if you feel that's not the case then get it inspected ASAP.

They don't look that bad to be honest... dated yes but plain ugly .. no... but then everyone has their own taste....

Yep you can replace but it will be pretty costly and will also void warranty.

No tip-tronic

It's more of a gimmick in case of CVTs Except for newer gen CVTs with physical first gear.

Rest lot of highly experienced gentlemen here .. they can shed more light on all of the above.

Trip tronic is not a gimmick especially for driving in northern areas.

Honda S and L modes should work as well as tiptronic in those areas, if not better actually.

Yes it is very suspect that one of the biggest yaris lovers goes on to buy a city, which he has been shitting on for quite a while now.

Yes, they do work really well. On the steep babusar pass downhill I only had to do little braking most was done via the L mode. The car increased the RPM to around 3000 and the brake pads had to do just a little work.

As hamza mentioned above. The S and L gear ratio in conventional cvts work as good as any triptronic cvt, if not better.

I've driven Yaris 1.5 in north as well as a City and my Belta (conventional S and L ratios) and did not feel one superior to the other. If any thing Yaris required shifting between ratio 2 and 3 while the S mode in others is already tuned for a wider ratio.

VSC may actually help Yaris, but the triptronic is more of a shaskha

VSC may comes in action in certain cases. But in a normal drive straight line stability, I have found Yaris to be more unstable then New City.. City also does not have ideal feel of a stable car specially when i compare drive after driving CIVIC (though no comparison). But in straight line Car stability is fine and does not feel losing its line but bit bouncy feel due to increase ride height.

Also i have seen people saying of poor car noise insulation, or having high outside noise. I own 1.5 aspire CVT and its engine and outside noise is minimal and cabin is pretty silent.

Although I own a Yaris but I am not a blind fan boy....
I had no options but Yaris due to my long standing back pain issues.

IMC also launched pre-facelift edition and removed a lot of stuff even from the top trim....Retractable mirrors; seat height adjustments; cruise control; rear AC and the list goes on.

Further more they did not include their latest CVT with manual first gear in Yaris; using the older gen CVT instead.

I don't understand why all the manufacturers launch outdated models in Pakistan ...

I haven't had a chance of driving an Aspire 1.5 yet but I have driven the old gen 1.5 Manual City 2017 Model... That car was really fun to drive ... but my back plainly refused to go with it ...

Its good to see people commenting that this time around the seats are comfier and suspension is a bit softer ...
