I had been planning to buy Aspire CVT last year but due to rise in costs, I couldnt get one and instead bought a Civic X 2017 in mind condition. Now, I am being given an Aspire CVT from my employer. The question is, I have three cars now out of which I have to keep two (one of them has to be the company provided car). The other two cars are Alto VXR 2020 and the other is the Civic X 2017. I am inclined to keep Alto because of small car - big car balance but the question is, will Aspire be able to fill in the big shoes of the X well enough?

Civic no doubt have better handling and road grip. Its drive on motorway will be a class above City. Civic is C-Segment sedan, so it must have more space. Civic is better looking car.

New City have better comfort due to soft suspension (when compared to Civic X), comfortable and adjustable seats. Apart from comfort City have better road clearance. City's fuel economy is better and parts are cheap.

If Civic X is oriel, then there isn't much difference in acceleration due to power to weight ratio. Both vehicles do 0-100 in about 10 sec. The best time for 1.5 City with CVT and 1.8 Civic is same and i.e. 9.7 sec.

This may not matter to you, but I am giving you an idea that Civic X with 1.8 engine is not that powerful. If you want power, then 1.5 turbo is the right choice.

I gave you pros of both vehicles. Rest is your choice

Thanks for the detailed reply. My Civic is Oriel and I am absolutely satisfied with its power.

One thing I keep hearing is that City's road grip and handling pretty bad. Is it something easily solved by replacing the tires or its a chronic problem? Civic's handling is excellent even on the BG Luxos it comes with.

Yes Civic is a better handling car.
City's handling get worse after 120 kph. I suggest not change tire size if you are concerned with fuel economy.

Civic is a class above City.

City also looks so weird and cheap, specially from the rear.

Apart from the looks, the interior too is way modern in civic.

The handling of new city does not get solved by good tires, just gets a bit improved. Problem is the car is too raised and has light steering, so it handles badly. Good thing is it pretty much never touches speed breakers. Old city had great handling but almost always touches speed breakers, I think civic x also touches speed breakers. No local car comes close to civic X and XI handling so that will always feel like a downgrade for you in city.

I only bought city bz it was introduced as elevated car otherwise i would have bought yaris without any interest sirf majboori ma. Had previous city and old civic always hit speed breakers. Pakistan has such bad roads. Very happy with elevated city. Toyota is popular since many dacades due to elevated cars. Gari bus neche nahi lagni chahye bz there is no solution to it.

I used to prefer handling over raised vehicle. But that changed with time when I start taking my vehicles to remote areas.
I think one can bear with the handling issue by not over speeding, but you can't do anything about low ground clearance.

Alto has another big advantage that's coming soon and that's fuel subsidy for vehicles under 800cc. This would also probably lead to a huge raise in Alto's resale value and market demand. Combined with the great fuel economy of alto and the current economic scenario, it would probably be wise to keep alto unless your salary is high enough that fuel savings don't matter much to you.

I am also inclined to retain Alto in favor of the Civic. Its a mind over heart matter tbh otherwise its a simple decision.

Fuel subsidy would be for people having less than 40k income/month. Nothing to do with 800cc or less cars etc

Nothing will happen guys....this was just for political gain. There can never be any mechanism to implement such schemes. Govt has already dismissed this idea before implementation.

Went for 10K oil change on last Sunday. Some observations
- Actual mileage: 8770Km; Since last oil change: 4250Km
- Airfilter was not changed since start
- Airfilter came out as horrible and almost black with soot; It was a shock
- The average had fallen down since last 500Km or so
- The price of Airfilter shocked me: Rs 5100 almost
- The price of Oil was around RS 7500
- They say you cant air-clean the filter in between as it has "oil" in it
I was talking to a relative who drove his Citys (prev gen) over 100K twice and uses regular Guard filter and Honda Oil from outside. I am wondering if I am overdoing it and we don't really need this Honda filter.

OEM filters are always expensive no matter which vehicle you choose. The reason for that is OE parts have quality standards defined by the automaker which the vendor must meet. Parts from the vendor are tested by the QA automotive engineers before they are accepted to get OE stamp.

The only concern I have with aftermarket filters is we don't know how well they can filter. This could be only tested in a controlled environment. The only thing we can judge is the quality and finishing of the filter making, fit and finish. Another thing we can know is the amount of filter media used by counting the flaps in the air filter. You can't even count that in an oil filter since it's sealed.

I am not discouraging anyone to use aftermarket filters, nor I am saying they are bad. The reality is no one knows how good or bad they are because we cannot test the performance of filter media.

BTW if you want to choose guard filters, use correct part numbers for your Honda City.
GDO-197 for oil filter
GDA-2057 for air filter

Yup. I have also decided to visit dealership after every 20k for detailed inspection of brake etc and in between use authorised distributors for oil liqui moly, oil filter of VIC and air filter of leppon/ Honda may be, Guard is a bit low quality.
