Been meaning to post this for a while now. I posted this very car a while ago with a different account next to two older white City's. Here's the one year and four month update or 21000 kms.
Drive:
Steering is incredibly light and doesn't harden at higher speeds, but this light steering is a staple for City, and within city, I suppose its helpful.
The suspension though, not so much, very stiff and that too without the payback of having grip to the same extent as it is hard. At least on stock tires, its very annoying and believe me, my 2005 City GD responds to bumps better than this. I'm convinced they stiffen up City solely for people to notice the difference in City and Civic.
The acceleration though, I must commend, as I didn't expect it to do anything near 10 seconds, and this was able to keep up in a convoy of stage 2 Revo's and pre-facelift Land Cruiser's, though I suppose they aren't the highest benchmarks either. The CVT drone is annoying though, and the engine noise is very much prevalent.
Comfort:
Like I mentioned, suspension is a pain, but I'm pretty sure the average person wouldn't notice, especially in a carpeted city like isl. The rear legroom is also a plus point, better than that of Elantra even, and makes it a good car to be chauffeured in ( which was actually the original reason for booking the thing, but I decided to do alot more with it.). Although, front legroom for the passenger is not so good, and being 6 feet or more will mean you'll need to recline the seat.
The biggest crime though would be the arm rests or lack of, you see, Atlas decided to quite literally rip off the door panel arm rests, and so one must rest their arm on hard, gritty plastic, and the center arm rest is a joke as well, equally hard, just lined with some stitching but that's about it. Might seem like a minor inconvenience but its notable when you sit in anything nicer.
AC is good, rear vents further emphasize it being a "driver" car in the sense of being chauffeured, not an enthusiast car, alongside the steering.
Average:
Daily route of Islamabad expressway during peak rush hour besides on the way back, and it gives 14/15 kml in eco mode, and 16 if you're really careful with the throttle. Have to mention that no, there is no hogging up lanes or slowing down anyone, its normal driving and its been giving this since around 4k kms. Although, this figure will drop rapidly after a few accelerations.
Quality:
Atlas and quality don't go hand in hand, and this isn't an exception
My car has a bit of Carnelian Red on the passenger window, just at the very top.
(
Apolgies for the vague picture)
Also, and this is no surprise for the GM6, but panel gaps, here's a comparsion between a 2005 City and a 2022 City.
Lastly is the horn, which for some God forsaken reason is planted literally inside the cabin, and very annoying to use as a result.
Other than that, it isn't too bad, an improvement from the fact that I could fit two fingers in between the dashboard and door panel in my 2012 City and in this one, only one finger
General:
I wasn't there at the time it got booked, so it lacks the optional tweeters but still the sound system is good enough for a pkdm and anyway, apparently the wiring or something isn't available for neither the tweeters nor the front camera.
Reversing Camera is just average, better than any Suzuki but no where near Hyundai/Kia, some rotating guideline would've been nice but I suppose they had to give something to Civic Xi. Also, the mirror switches aren't lit up at night, a slight inconvenience as many people drive this car but not the end of the world.
I also like the design, the molded line that runs down the side of the car gives a lot of character, and is much more accentuated than the previous two generations.
It's also quite typical of atlas to give us something outdated on an already outdated car, this time being the taillights, but I suppose they have to save something for the facelift lol.
The tires though, on 175 especially look a bit funny and the gap of the fender and tires is quite annoying, but I'm fine with that so long as it doesn't scrape. Speaking of scraping, I took the car to a farm in Chakri, where its raised height was helpful and on the motorway, we stayed below 120 because, well, I wasn't confident in the steering but otherwise it was fine.
(
Excuse the tint sample)
(
Fun-fact,it was the baic that almost flipped over, not the city)
Takes up more dust than the Baic though, I had it washed in Charki and at home as well.
I didn't mean to take the City on such a trip but I'm glad I did, on the drive back we cruised in silence listening to Halka Halka saroor by the late Nusrat in silence
