I hope steps were taken to minimize dealer mafia taking advantage with these unofficial pre-bookings. They should protect interests of their genuine customers not the mafia thats gonna sky rocket Aspire to 35 lac after its release

The City may not be 'all-new', but it is still new when in comes to PKDM. For a fact, even Sportage, Picanto, Tucson and Elantra belong to the same league. Pakistan has had to face many tough realities in the past 3 to 5 years and few of them are as follows:

• Our small market is not profitable enough to manufacture the latest and update the aging cars every four years.
• It is also not economically feasible to manufacture smaller cars as the cost of production is higher than potential for economies of scale which is on offer. Note, small cars are made cheaper by volume of sales.
• Without a sustainable export strategy, it will never make enough business sense to upgrade models or provide low cost cars on a regular basis. Pakistan exports no cars today, I sincerely hope this changes in the future.
• Importing used cars has a potential to bring costs down, but it is not a sustainable strategy because of the USD outflow that will cripple the already struggling economy. We should never have done that and must refrain to not only protect the industry but also the lively hood of the people.

So, while it is fair for the enthusiast in us to be disappointed, but as potential buyers we should evaluate each product with its pros and cons. Definitely, Yaris or Alsvin have edge for being fresh models whereas City will be on the backfoot. But when it launches, a consumer should compare what all these companies are offering in the respective price and then make a decision without thinking about the rest of the world.

So what's this 1.2 business? As far as I know, 6th gen City does not come with a 1.2 engine. Does Atlas plan to show the 1.3 as a 1297cc engine like it used to some years ago? Even then it should still be 1.3 not 1.2.

I hope they don't plan on using the 90hp L12B engine from the old Jazz.

The city we have currently dont have a 1.3 option outside Pakistan we have it. 1.2LB was there in Fit and same platform so, there is a possibility. I wrote about it in my blog as well.

I would respectfully disagree. The 10th gen civic was launched in Pakistan within an year or almost in an years time of the International launch and look how it sold like hot cakes over here.

The fact that sportage and all these crossovers are having huge number of sales shows that there is alot purchasing power among the Pakistani consumers. So we cant say that people wont buy latest models coz the price would be high either.

The market potential is there, these assemblers are the real issue. I think Honda Atlas just came late to the game and couldnt anticipate how the market dynamics were changing.

Though i still believe this upcoming honda city would sell alot because of the goodwill the name carries however 7th gen should have been introduced even if it meant delaying the launch for some more months to invest in the production line.

Here's a wild theory: Could Honda also be launching Honda Amaze and calling it City DXIRE 1.2? Is that why they are hell bent on not acknowledging the launch of 6th gen? I mean they sold 5th gen quite proudly for 12 years, ab kis baat ki sharam?

Honda Amaze also uses the same 89hp L12B from older Fit/Jazz and comes with both manual and CVT. Plus Amaze is also in-line with their claim in the QnA notice: "Exceptionally efficient on fuel" as simply putting the L12B from Amaze in GM6 City would give terrible fuel economy, worse than 5th gen 1.3 even.

The other claim that having a 1.2 engine results in "increased cabin space" also doesn't make sense unless its a completely different car altogether.

Remember, at one point Atlas was considering Brio for our market which is the hatch version of Amaze. They could be planning to take on the Saga/Alsvin segment with City DXIRE and Yaris with GM6 City.

Bhai 6th generation ke cabin space 2 inch ziada hai aur fuel tank bhee back seat kai nechay hai unlike 5th gen whihc has fuel tank under front seats....tou increased space tou hoi.....baki fuel efficient kehna aur asal mein hona different cheez hai....lol

That's not the point. They are attributing increased cabin space to 1.2 engine. How does that make sense?

We are all car enthusiasts. The Honda Atlas guys are just businessmen. They just barely know how to do business. So please don't expect them to give any logical car related answers to our questions. Ask them about profit margins, taxes, ON money etc etc but please do not ask them about efficacy of 1.5l or 1.2l engines or car generations or car features. They are simply ignorant about all these aspects.
