Asalamalaikum Pak Wheelers.
My colleagues all of them belong to Lahore are very fond of watching snowfall. Myself being a resident of Gilgit have seen much snowfall and mountains in my life. Friends were pushing each other from quiet a while to plan a trip to some hilly areas and enjoy snow there. Murree was out of the list as it is no more a tourist spot but has turned into a "machli mandi" sort of place. The plan lingered on due to busy office days and unavailability of vacations. Atlast at start of First week of March we decided that we were going to Swat area on the weekend. In this thread i will be sharing photos and details of the said trip. Hope you will enjoy.

Ok firends I will now start with day by day details.
03-03-2017
We left our office early on Friday. Every one had to get their clothes and other accessories from their houses. The plan was to pick all the friends from their relavant places. My car (Honda City 2016) was to be uses hence I after picking my bag from my house went to other friends houses and picked them one by one and then we rode on Ring road. One of our friends was supposed to come to Babu Sabu interchange but when we reached near samanabad mor there was a bad traffic jam.

A rickshaw driver told us that "molvis" have held a strike there but later it was reveled that due to PSL all in coming and outgoing traffic to lahore was stopped. Remained stuck there for about 2 hrs. Meanwhile our 5th friend also arrived and we somehow got a chance to get a u turn and move back towards sagian pull to get on the motorway through Faiz pur interchange. That was blocked too so we moved towards GT road to go to Kala shah kaku interchange which was also closed. Moved on GT road and turned left from muridke and after travelling around 35-40 Kms reached sheikhupura interchange.

Once we were on the motorway at 09.00 pm there was no stopping us and we moved quite swiftly. Had a break at Sial Rest area and filled our tummies with biryani sent by one of the colleagues wife. Exited Lhr-Isb motorway at around 12.3o and entered Peshawar Motorway. Changed drivers at the first rest area on Peshawar motorway and got our tank refuelled.Reached Mardan at around 3.00 in the morning and decided not to stay here and travel directly to Bahrain that is sort of a base camp for Kalam.

At Fajar reached Bahrain. Just short of Bahrain there was a small mosque so decided to stay for Namaz and releasing "pressure". Once we came out of the car chilling winds of Kalam welcomed us and we all started shivering with cold. As we were 5 passengers in the car so the car had a warm cosy feeling inside but as soon as we came out we all rushed to the car digi to get our sweaters and jackets

Reached Bahrain at 06.00 in the morning and booked a hotel room for 5 persons @ 2000/night. As season is off these days hotels were not open till then. Knocked door of a hotel and woke up the care taker. The room was good with a stream flowing from back side.

After resting for about 2 hrs in the hotel took breakfast and went out to find a vehicle to take us to kalam. The road is all carpeted and in very good condition till bahrain but from Bahrain onwards its all broken due to land slides so it is not adviseable to take car upto kalam. from Bahrain you can hire a 4x4 or Toyotal Fielder is another option. After talking and negotiating with 2-3 drivers we hired a Land Cruiser for Rs. 6,000/-. It was decided that he will take us till where the road is clear. During season they take upto 15-17 K for the trip.
