stopped here for photography
Jese jese hm upar jate ja rahe they paharon ki baraf neeche ati jarahi thi..Group members ki excitement bhi barhti jarahi thi...
Our driver Fazal Kareem was a good guy. He tried to take as far as possible. The idea was to reach at least Ushu glacier and see Mahodand lake as well. But at a point area named Mataltan the snow on the road didn't allow us to go any further. That point was just 15-20 minutes away from Mahodand Lake and 5 min from Ushu glacier.
THis jungle, 2 hrs drive from Bahrain is a beautiful place and a good spot for photography and playing around. We stayed there for about half an hour and moved ahead towards UShuUploading...
long Driving is difficult for single person if all friends Drive well in hilly areas then it is good. i prefer to take rent a car company service which has professional drivers who drive in hilly areas.
i have already driven myself to kalam, neelum valley, pir chanasi, naran etc so driving is no problem here. what i'm interested to know is the current updates about weather, snow, roads, accessibility, hotels etc
@umarsaleheen I myself have experience of driving in Gilgit Baltistan as I belong there. My friend also is a good driver. Upon return I drove all the way from Bahrain to Malam Jabba and Malam Jabba to Lahore.
@arsalaanali89 Weahter is quite cold there do take warm clothes. When we reached Bahrain in the morning it would be around 1 Degree. However in the afternoon when the sun is out it gets good you can put off the sweater then. Roads N-90 and N-95 all are paved and no issues till Bahrain. Bahrain till kalam you will need a Jeep or the Toyota Fielders that run as taxis there. If u have a Honda dont take it to Malam Jabba as its road clearance is not good, the road there is not good but the area before malam jabba turn (i dont remember the name) is all good. Hotels are easily available at Bahrain and are reasonable (we paid 2000 for a night for a double room and 2 mattresses). For Malam Jabba its better to stay at Mingora.
Going towards Ushu/Mahodand at a point named Mataltan the snow was all over the road. There was a slope where the driver said that we can go down but while coming up on return the vehicle may get stuck even with 4x4. So we decided to not take the risk and go back. Some photos on that point
Some more pics of the Jugle
Returned to Bahrain at Maghrib Prayers. One of our friends got too tired travelling on the broken, Land Slides effected Kalam road that he straight away went to sleep without taking food. The other four of us after resting for half an hour left hotel to take a tour of Bahrain Bazar and have some food.
THANKS FOR THE INFO. i am interested to know about the bahrain to kalam road. my guess is if a fielder can go y not my own car? y to specially rent a sedan / estate if my car falls in the same very class. tell me if i can go all the way to malam jabba on my own car or i'll definitely have to rent a jeep
Better not to take your car to Kalam from Bahrain onwards. The fielders used there are Non custom paid cars which they get easily for 3.5-4 lakhs so they can afford to drive them on such roads. Further often they modify their suspensions to suit the terrain. If u have a 4x4 then you dont have to worry about anything. I took my city to Malam Jabba but i regret my decision. There are so many bumps and the road is broken from many places. On many places we had to remove the passengers so that the car doesnot touch down. However it would be relatively easier for Toyota corollas as they have better suspension. You may contact me on my phone if i am not clear enough. 0346-4410294
