Some Things to remember:
The area is safe now. Every 25-30 KMs or earlier sometimes ,you will find army or police check posts. They are generally nice to you and when they hear that you have come from some other city they treat you as their guest. We traveled most of areas that were worst hit by Taliban, during night and faced no issues.
All travelers 18 years and above age MUST keep their ID cards alog with them as they are checked on most of the check posts.
Do stop whenever the army or police officials stop you. They have strict orders regarding this.
Do not Litter the area.
The people are very cooperative and considering you as your guests treat you very well. While booking jeep for Kalam a Baba jee who himself was a fielder driver (competitor to the jeep driver , helped us a lot in negotiating rates. One shopkeeper left his shop to go with us to find something.
Do take warm clothes. The weather changes frequently.
Honda vehicles (City specially) have low ground clearance so might have problems on some routes. The highways N-90 nd N-95 are well paved no issues on them while driving.
Thanks
